KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its final Athlete of the Week in the 2026 women’s tennis season, presented by
ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Central Oklahoma’s Pete Komada, who was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week in week one, also claimed the season’s final Athlete of the Week honor.
MIAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Pete Komada, Central Oklahoma
Pete Komada went 4-0 in Central Oklahoma’s final regular season matches to help the Bronchos secure a share of the MIAA regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the 2026 MIAA Women's Tennis Championship. Komada, who’s part of the No. 6 doubles team in Division II, won 6-2 in both matches at Hays and Kearney. In singles competition, Komada won 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 2 position in the Bronchos’ 7-0 shutout of Fort Hays State. She was also up one set at No. 2 singles in the 6-1 win against the Lopers before her opponent retired. This is Komada’s second MIAA Athlete of the Week honor in the 2026 season and the Bronchos’ fifth weekly honor overall — the most of any MIAA women’s tennis team.
