KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Athlete of the Week for week nine of the 2026 women’s tennis season, presented by
ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Missouri Western’s Johanna Priedite was named the latest MIAA Athlete of the Week for her and the Griffons’ second weekly honor of the season.
MIAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Johanna Priedite, Missouri Western
Johanna Priedite continued to lead the way for Missouri Western last week, going a perfect 4-0 across two matches and helping extend the Griffons’ winning streak to 10, improving to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in MIAA play. Against Arkansas-Fort Smith, Priedite earned a dominant straight-set win at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 and teamed up with Cristina Granero Boj for a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles for a 7-0 sweep over the Lions. She followed that performance with another strong outing against Northeastern State, rallying for a three-set win at No. 1 singles 6-7(1-7), 6-2, 6-1 and pairing with Granero Boj again for a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, helping MoWest secure a 6-1 team victory over the RiverHawks.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Daisy Barrow, Northeastern State
Daisy Barrow highlighted the weekend for the RiverHawks with a 4-0 trip to St. Joseph. The true freshman handed Northwest Missouri's Majra Djokic her third loss of the season at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-1) and followed that with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Missouri Western. In doubles, she won 6-3 over Northwest Missouri and claimed her second win over a ranked pair, beating MoWest's top group 7-5, who was a No. 44 in Division II.
Renske Ubachs, Washburn
Renske Ubachs went 2-0 in No. 17 Washburn's only match of the week, defeating Nebraska Kearney 6-1 at home. Ubachs and Riko Konno swept their No. 2 doubles match over Fabiana Gamboa and Clare Plachy. In singles, No. 25-ranked Ubachs won a pair of 6-2 sets over Patricija Cechanaviciute on the top court to help the Ichabods collect another MIAA win.
