KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Athlete of the Week for week four of the 2026 women’s tennis season, presented by
ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Missouri Western's Johnanna Priedite was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for the Griffons' first weekly honor of the season.
MIAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Johanna Priedite?, Missouri Western
Johanna Priedite delivered strong performances in both doubles and singles for the Griffons in wins over Midland and Minnesota State. In the match against Midland, Priedite teamed with Claudia Pastor at No. 2 doubles to earn a dominant 6-0 victory, helping MoWest secure the doubles point. She followed that effort with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-3 as the Griffons completed the 7-0 sweep. Priedite also played a key role in the Griffons’ win over Minnesota State. Once again partnering with Pastor at No. 2 doubles, the duo posted a 6-0 victory. In singles play, Priedite battled through a three-set match at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 win.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Majra Djokic, Northwest Missouri
Majra Djokic scored wins at No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles in leading Northwest to a 6-1 dual win at Southern Arkansas. The sophomore won in straight sets against SAU's Isabella Lazzerini, 7-5, 6-2. She then paired with Polina Gontaryk to post a 6-2 victory over SAU's No. 3 doubles duo of Victoria Perez and Lazzerini. Djokic is now 7-1 at No. 2 singles in dual play and 5-1 in doubles play. As a team, the Bearcats are 7-1 overall.
Mei Hasegawa, Central Oklahoma
Mei Hasegawa went 3-1 this week, splitting her doubles matches while going 2-0 in singles competition. In Friday’s 4-3 win over Texas A&M Kingsville, Hasegawa rebounded from a 7-5 doubles loss with a big 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. On Saturday against Angelo State, which is receiving votes in the latest ITA rankings, Hasegawa won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles and 7-6 (5), 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
