Northwest's Majra Djokic Named MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, Presented by ClassicCourt

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Athlete of the Week for week seven of the 2026 women’s tennis season, presented by ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Northwest Missouri’s Majra Djokic was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for the Bearcats’ first weekly honor of the season.
 
MIAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Majra Djokic, Northwest Missouri       
Majra Djokic was undefeated last week, going 2-0 in singles action and 2-0 in doubles as Northwest Missouri scored dual wins at McKendree and Missouri-St Louis. Djokic knocked off McKendree's Krsitina Bogomazova, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 singles after pairing up with Polina Gontaryk for a 6-1 win over McKendree's No. 3 doubles team of Ivana Milkova and Emmy Zsigmond. The sophomore from Serbia earned her second straight set singles win of the week with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over UMSL's Millie Wileman at No. 2 singles. She and Gontaryk teamed up again to record a 6-2 victory over UMSL's Anna Favaron and Lauren Sweeney. Djokic is 9-1 at No. 2 singles and 8-1 in doubles this spring.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Renske Ubachs, Washburn
Renske Ubachs helped Washburn win a pair of road matches last week over Ouachita (6-1) and Southern Arkansas (4-0). The senior from the Netherlands went a combined 3-0 in singles and doubles. She teamed with Riko Konno to win a 6-0 match at No. 1 doubles against the Tigers. Her doubles match against the Muleriders was left unfinished. In singles action, Ubachs won a pair of two-set matches while playing from the No. 1 position. 
 
Mei Hasegawa, Central Oklahoma
Mei Hasegawa helped Central Oklahoma open MIAA play with a win at Newman on Tuesday afternoon. The sophomore newcomer won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Hasegawa and teammate Pete Komada are currently ranked No. 19 in the country in the latest ITA Doubles rankings. She ranks No. 27 in the country in the ITA Singles rankings. After joining the program at the semester, Hasegawa is now 8-2 in doubles and 8-1 in singles on the season.
