KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Athlete of the Week for week six of the 2026 women’s tennis season, presented by ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Central Oklahoma’s Anika Ouwejan was unbeaten through three matches to be named this week’s MIAA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.

MIAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Anika Ouwejan, Central Oklahoma
Anika Ouwejan went 6-0 to lead the Bronchos through a three-match non-conference tour in Arkansas last week. Playing at No. 2 doubles with teammate Ayaka Koga, the duo won 6-2 at Harding, 7-5 at Henderson State, and 6-1 at Arkansas Tech this week. In singles action, the junior did need a third set at Harding (2-6, 6-3, 7-6) but won 6-2, 3-2 (retired) at Henderson State and 6-4, 6-3 at Arkansas Tech to complete the unbeaten week.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Jevrosima Mitic, Missouri Western
Jevrosima Mitic has played a major role for the Griffons during this four-match week, delivering consistent results in both singles and doubles play throughout the week. Mitic has anchored the lineup at No. 3 singles, beginning with a strong 6-4, 6-2 straight-set victory over Ouachita Baptist. She carried that momentum through the Arkansas trip, earning a 6-3, 6-2 win against Arkansas Tech on Sunday (March 15) at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex, followed by another composed straight-set performance in a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Henderson State on Monday (March 16) at the Ward Tennis Center. She capped the stretch with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles in the Griffons’ 4-0 victory over Southern Arkansas on Tuesday (March 17) afternoon at the Live Oak Tennis Courts. In doubles play, Mitic has also made an impact at the top spot alongside Alejandra Ramirez Botella. The duo secured a key 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles against Ouachita Baptist and followed it up with a 7-6 (7-3) victory against Southern Arkansas, helping set the tone early in multiple matches. Her steady presence and ability to produce in both singles and doubles have been instrumental in the Griffons’ 4-0 stretch, providing consistency throughout the lineup and helping build momentum heading into conference play.

Renata Morales, Northeastern State
Renata Morales went 3-1 last week for the RiverHawks, who pushed their winning streak to seven matches — the program’s longest since 2018. The sophomore helped lead Northeastern State to an upset of No. 12-ranked MSU-Texas with a 6-4, 6-2 win in singles. She also won in three sets in the Riverhawks’ 6-1 win over Arkansas Tech and swept doubles 6-0.
