New MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week, Presented by ClassicCourt

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced new MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week for week 12 of the 2026 spring season, presented by ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Nebraska Kearney’s Andy Brisdon picked up his third North Division Athlete of the Week honor while Southern Arkansas’s Uwe Diehl claimed his second South Division Athlete of the Week award.

NORTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Andy Brisdon, Nebraska Kearney          
Andy Brisdon helped No. 37-ranked Nebraska Kearney upset No. 33-ranked Ouachita 4-3 this past Saturday in Kearney. Ranked ninth along with sophomore Ivan Melnik, Brisdon and Melnik beat No. 21-ranked Yarin Aebi and Ramon Strassmann, 6-3, at one doubles. Brisdon then rallied for a three-set win at No. 2 singles (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) to go undefeated on the week.

SOUTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Uwe Diehl, Southern Arkansas
Uwe Diehl was unbeaten while leading Southern Arkansas to a 1-1 week against No. 17-ranked Mississippi College and MIAA/GAC South Division foe Southeastern Oklahoma State. Diehl was one of just two Muleriders to go undefeated in SAU’s 4-3 loss to Mississippi College, collecting a 7-5, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles and a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles with teammate Jonas Sommer. He and Sommer earned another 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles before collecting another straight set win (7-6, 7-5) at No. 3 singles for the Muleriders to sweep Southeastern Oklahoma 7-0.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Pavlo Parson, Washburn [NORTH DIVISION]
Pavlos Parson went 2-0 in the Ichabods’ 6-1 win over MIAA/GAC North Division opponent, No. 50-ranked Northwest Missouri. Parson first teamed up with Tommy Cecchetti to win 6-0 at No. 2 doubles over Bernardo Henriques and Jules Subra of the Bearcats. He then added a point on the top court of singles defeating Dominik Wijntjes in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 10-8) as Washburn won a ninth straight match.
