KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced new MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week for week 11 of the 2026 spring season, presented by
ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Washburn’s Pavlos Parson earned his first North Division Athlete of the Week award and Harding’s Adrian Solorano claimed his second South Division Athlete of the Week honor of the season.
NORTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Pavlos Parson, Washburn
Pavlos Parson was undefeated in Washburn’s MIAA/GAC North Division win over Emporia State, 6-1, helping the Ichabods to an eighth straight victory. He and Tommy Cecchetti defeated the Hornets’ Diego Calvo and Gwendal Mazuay 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to open the match. In singles play, Parson recovered from losing his first set to win 6-3 and 6-4 in the final two sets to clinch the match with a win on court one over Mostafa Elbasnaly. This is Parson’s first MIAA/GAC North Division Athlete of the Week award and Washburn’s fifth weekly honor of the season.
SOUTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Adrian Solorzano, Harding
Adrian Solorzano was undefeated at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles while leading Harding to back-to-back wins over MIAA/GAC South Division opponents. The senior opened the week with a 6-2, 6-0 singles win and teamed up with Cian Mikkelsen for 6-1 doubles win, helping the Bison to a 7-0 sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State last Thursday (Apr. 9). He then claimed a 6-1, 7-5 singles victory and added another doubles win with Mikkelsen in Harding’s 5-2 win over No. 50 Southern Arkansas on Tuesday (Apr. 14). This is Solorzano’s second MIAA/GAC South Division Athlete of the Week honor in the past three weeks.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Pavlo Vysotin, Northwest Missouri [NORTH DIVISION]
Pavlo Vysotin gained his team-leading 13th singles win with a straight-sets triumph at No. 2 singles in the Bearcats’ 7-0 sweep of Newman. The senior picked up a singles win over Newman's David Javadov, 6-1, 6-3. Vysotin is 13-4 in singles play and has won three straight matches. He also teamed up with Gage Foltz to secure a 6-1 win over Newman's Erik Lopez and Noah Smith at No. 3 doubles. Vysoting and Foltz are a perfect 5-0 at No. 3 doubles this season.
Ramon Strassmann, Ouachita [SOUTH DIVISION]
Ramon Strassmann was undefeated last week in matches against No. 50-ranked Southern Arkansas and No. 17-ranked Mississippi College with a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 2-0 record at No. 1 doubles with teammate Yarin Aebi. In the 5-2 home conference win over the No. 50 Muleriders, Strassmann and Aebi, ranked No. 26 in Division II doubles, upset the No. 7-ranked tandem of Uwe Diehl and Jonas Sommer by a score of 6-3. In singles, Strassmann, ranked No. 54 in Division II, rallied back from down one to beat SAU's Lucas Nitzschke 5-7, 7-5, 6-2. In the Tigers’ 6-1 loss to the Choctaws, Strassmann and Aebi beat Charles Lefort and Joshua Hinton 6-3. In singles, he again came from behind to win in three sets, defeating No. 55-ranked Matias Ricci 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
