New MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week, Presented by ClassicCourt

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced new MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week for week two of the 2026 season, presented by ClassicCourt – the official tennis surface of the MIAA. Nebraska Kearney’s Andy Brisdon was named the Athlete of the Week in the North Division and  Southern Arkansas’s Balsa Djokovic was selected as the Athlete of the Week in the South Division.
 
NORTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Andy Brisdon, Nebraska Kearney      
Andy Brisdon helped the Lopers to a pair of wins over the weekend as the junior finished 4-0 at No.1 doubles and singles. In Nebraska Kearney’s 7-0 shutout of McPherson, Brisdon and doubles partner Ivan Melnik won 6-2 at No.1 doubles before downing the NAIA's No. 16-ranked doubles duo 6-4 in the Lopers’ 5-2 win over Morningside. Also against the MU Mustangs, Brisdon beat the NAIA's No. 30-ranked player, 6-3, 7-6. He also won in straight sets in his singles battle against McPherson’s No. 16-ranked Aurthur Nardy, 6-4, 6-2.

SOUTH DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Balsa Djokovic, Southern Arkansas     
Balsa Djokovic went undefeated at 6-0 last week while leading the Muleriders to a pair of wins and one loss. The freshman played line three doubles against Cameron University, as he and his partner earned the only win for the Muleriders in doubles, winning 6-3. In singles play against Cameron, he dropped the first set 1-6 but rallied to win the final two 6-3 and 6-4. In SAU’s 4-2 win over Weatherford College, Djokovic and his partner won 6-2 at line three, helping the team to claim the doubles point before winning in three sets at line three singles, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. In the Muleriders’ 7-0 sweep of UT-Dallas, Djokovic and his partner won their match at line two doubles 6-1. He then played line two in singles and won in three sets 6-2, 5-7, 1(10), 0(6). On the weekend, Djokovic was 3-0 in doubles and 3-0 in singles play for a 6-0 overall record.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Pavlos Parson, Washburn  [NORTH DIVISION]
Pavlos Parson helped the Ichabods to a sweep in their first conference match of the season, defeating Augustana 7-0. In doubles play, Parson teamed with Benjamin Fock to defeat Thomas Kano and Sebastian Garcia 6-3 at No. 2. In singles, he led off playing at No. 1, winning 6-4 and 6-1 sets over Jose Velasco. 
 
Ramon Strassmann, Ouachita  [SOUTH DIVISION]
Ramon Strassmann was a combined 4-0 to start the 2026 spring season in Ouachita's wins over Christian Brothers (7-0) and A&M-Texarkana (4-0) at home. Against CBU, he and doubles teammate Yarin Aebi won 6-3 on court one and then Ramon won 6-3, 6-2 at No.1 singles over Benjamin Hanriot. In the quick win over TAMUT, Ramon and Aebi blanked their opponents 6-0 at No.2 doubles and then Ramon won 6-2, 6-2 at No.1 singles over Sebastian Ramonos.
