KANSAS CITY, MO – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its final Wrestler of the Week in the 2025-26 season. Central Oklahoma’s Gabe Johnson helped the Bronchos claim their sixth consecutive MIAA championship to earn the last MIAA Wrestler of the Week honor of the season.
MIAA WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: Gabe Johnson, 157 lbs., Central Oklahoma
Gabe Johnson's 18-3 technical fall set the tone for No. 1 Central Oklahoma's dismantling of No. 14 Central Missouri to claim its sixth consecutive MIAA Championship. Johnson, the two-time National Champion and three-time All-American with more than 100 career victories, improved to 25-1 in his career at Hamilton Field House. The senior defeated the Mules’ Ayden Dolt 18-3 with four takedowns and a near-fall while also adding a riding time point to secure the technical fall for his 28th straight win.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Kolton Field, Fort Hays State (141 lbs.)
Kolton Field was the only Tiger to walk away with a win in Fort Hays State’s MIAA dual against No. 2 Nebraska Kearney. The junior 141-pounder racked up four takedowns to run away with a 15-4 major decision against the Lopers’ Jacob Fox last Friday (Feb. 13) in Hays, Kan.
Crew Howard, Nebraska Kearney (285 lbs.)
Crew Howard ran his win streak to 14 in a row with a first-period fall in 1:54 against Fort Hays State’s Jaxson Thomas to help the No. 2 Lopers defeat the Tigers in Hays. During his current win streak, the top-ranked heavyweight has totaled two tech falls, two majors and six falls.
