KANSAS CITY, MO – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced a new Wrestler of the Week for the 11th week of the 2025-26 season. Nebraska Kearney’s Trent Munoz was named the MIAA Wrestler of the Week for the Lopers’ second weekly honor of the season.
MIAA WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: Trent Munoz, 165 lbs., Nebraska Kearney
Ranked sixth nationally at 165 pounds, Nebraska Kearney’s Trent Munoz went 2-0 last Friday night in Warrensburg as the No. 2-ranked Lopers defeated No. 14 Central Missouri, 23-10, and Ouachita, 49-0. Munoz first upset the Mules’ No.5-ranked Gage Bernall in an 8-4 decision. The graduate student then recorded an 18-2 technical fall (6:14) over Ouachita’s Samuel Schmidt. Munoz is now 3-0 against MIAA opponents.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Karim Allal, Central Missouri (125 lbs.)
Karim Allal recorded a standout week at 125 pounds last week, highlighted by a 12-4 major decision victory over No. 14-ranked Caleb Coyle of Nebraska Kearney, marking his ninth win of the season and a key upset for the Mules. The junior followed with an 11-2 major decision over Justin Shaw of Ouachita, contributing to Central Missouri’s 43-0 shutout victory over the Tigers.
Josh Taylor, Central Oklahoma (141 lbs.)
Top-ranked Central Oklahoma only had one competition last week and dispatched Drury in less than 45 minutes in the action. Josh Taylor's 36-second fall highlighted the night as the junior hit a fireman's carry takedown a mere six seconds into his bout with Drury’s Nate Wishne. The win by fall was Taylor’s third pin of the season at the 36-second mark.
Kolton Field, Fort Hays State (141 lbs.)
Kolton Field took home the 141-pound championship title at the Golden Norsemen Open over the weekend. The junior turned in a 4-0 record on the day, picking up one major decision and three decisions on his way to the first-place finish.
