KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its new Track and Field Athletes of the Week from week two the 2026 women’s outdoor season, presented by
Beynon – the official track surface of the MIAA. Central Missouri’s Grizell Scarlett was named the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Nebraska Kearney’s Lily Novacek was named the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after both athletes recorded top-Division II marks over the weekend.
OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Grizell Scarlett, Central Missouri
Grizell Scarlett on the women's 200-meter dash at the SBU Bearcat Invitational last Saturday (March 28). The junior ran a provisional qualifying time, personal best, and school record time of 23.46. Her time ranks second-fastest in Division II this season.
OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Lily Novacek, Nebraska Kearney
Lily Novacek won the women’s hammer at the annual Central Nebraska Challenge last Sunday (March 29) in Kearney with a heave of 208 feet, 7 inches (63.59 meters). She continues to lead Division II in the event, having now an eight-foot advantage over the next best mark in the nation.
NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES:
Stella Agbokpah, Emporia State
Stella Agbokpah tied an Emporia State school record, won an event, and had a provisional qualifier for the Hornet women at the ESU Spring Open last weekend. Agbokpah won the 200 meters in a provisional qualifying time of 24.02, which ranks third all-time at Emporia State and is currently ranked 17th in Division II this season. She also finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.63, tying the ESU 100-meter school record set by Latiyera Yeargin in 2018. Agbokpah then anchored the Hornets’ 4x100 meter relay team of Mackenzie Sauerwein, Barbara Bentum and Alexia Lewis, leading the squad to a second place showing in a time of 47.04, which ranks second in the MIAA this season.
Lexie Fontaine, Washburn
Lexie Fontaine finished fifth at the women's 1500 meters at the 2026 WashU Distance Carnival and was the highest Division II finisher in the event. The senior finished in a school-record time of 4:26.65 — breaking the previous Washburn record by more than seven seconds. Her time is the eighth-fastest time in Division II this season.
NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES:
Adrianne Casey, Missouri Southern
Adrianne Casey won the javelin throw at Emporia State’s Spring Open last weekend, notching an NCAA qualifying mark of 162 feet, 4 inches (49.47 meters). The victory is her second outdoor title of the 2026 season. The distance was good for the fifth-best throw in Division II this season, while her top throw of 166 feet, 11 inches (50.88 meters) from week one of the outdoor season ranks second in Division II.
Annabeth Balmann, Fort Hays State
Annabeth Baalmann cleared the bar at 13 feet, 1.5 inches (4.00 meters) to win the pole vault competition at the Central Nebraska Challenge last Sunday (March 29). The height is now the best mark in the MIAA and fourth-best in Division II this season.
