KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its sixth Track and Field Athletes of the Week from the 2025-26 women’s indoor season, presented by Beynon – the official track surface of the MIAA. Pittsburg State swept week six’s honors with Zyra Shivers named the Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Breanne Peters named the Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Zyra Shivers, Pittsburg State
Zyra Shivers clocked the No. 5 fastest time in NCAA Division II this season while winning the 60-meter hurdles at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Gorilla Indoor Classic last Saturday (Feb. 14). The graduate student from Charlotte, N.C., turned in a winning time of 8.37 seconds to now rank fifth in the nation and sixth all-time in the 60-meter hurdles at Pitt State.

INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Breanne Peters, Pittsburg State
Breanna Peters recorded the third-best mark in NCAA Division II this season with her clearance of 13 feet, 10.5 inches while winning the pole vault competition at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Gorilla Indoor Classic Friday (Feb. 13). The redshirt freshman from Lindsborg, Kan., posted a personal-best best effort in the discipline as well as the No. 3 mark all-time in Pitt State history.

NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES:
Emily McCullough, Fort Hays State
Emily McCullough broke the school record in the 3,000 meters at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic last Saturday (Feb. 14), placing first with a time of 9:48.10. That national-qualifying time ranks 36th in Division II. After surpassing the national qualifying threshold in the 5,000 meters two weeks ago, McCullough is one of just 18 athletes to post national qualifying marks in both distance races in Division II and one of just three in the MIAA to do so.

Stella Agbokpah, Emporia State
Stella Agbokpah continued her assault on the Hornet record book last Friday (Feb. 13) at the Russ Jewett Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan. She broke her second school record in two weeks, this time in the 60 meters. She ran 7.57 in the 60-meter prelims to better Latiyera Yeargin's mark of 7.61 set at the 2018 Herm Wilson Invitational. Her time ranks 32nd in the nation. She also won the 200 meters with a provisional qualifying time of 24.15 – the second-best time in ESU history, behind her own mark of 24.06 set last week. She had the top finish for the Emporia State women on Saturday, finishing fifth in the 60-meter finals in 7.64.

Marie Dea, Northwest Missouri
Marie Dea collected an NCAA Division II provisional mark in the women's 800 meters at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan. The sophomore won the 800-meter competition with a time of 2:09.12, which ranks 16th in Division II this season.

NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES:
Dailynn VanDeren, Missouri Southern
Dailynn VanDeren won both the shot put and the weight throw at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic. The junior thrower captured the weight throw title with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 19.61 meters (64-4) and won the shot put with an NCAA qualifying mark of 16.62 meters (54-6.5). She has now won all 12 events she has competed in this 2025-26 indoor season. Although her weight throw and shot put marks from the weekend rank seventh third in Division II, VanDeren already ranks second in NCAA Division II for shot put and fifth for weight throw.

Annabeth Baalmann, Fort Hays State
Annabeth Baalmann placed second in the pole vault competition at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic with a top clearance of 13-6.5 (4.13 meters) on her first attempt. That performance would rank seventh-best in Division II this season, but the senior already holds the distinction as the lone individual in Division II to clear 14 feet this season with a national-best mark of 14-1.25 set in December.
