MWSU's Ty Henry Named Final MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week in 2025-26 Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its final Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week award winner in the 2025-26 season. In the final week of regular season competition, Missouri Western’s Ty Henry earned the last MIAA Athlete of the Week award for the Griffons’ first weekly honor of the season.

MIAA MEN’S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ty Henry, Missouri Western  
Ty Henry put together two strong performances in wins over Emporia State and Newman in the final week of the regular season. In a 92-78 victory over Emporia State, the senior guard scored 20 points in 36 minutes, shooting 9-of-12 from the field and a perfect 1-of-1 from three and the free throw line, while adding three rebounds, one assist and two steals. He followed that with a 31-point outing in a 97-82 win at Newman, going 12-of-15 from the floor and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, while hitting both free throw attempts. He also recorded three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 35 minutes. Over the Griffons’ final two regular season games, Henry averaged 25.5 points and 35.8 minutes per game, along with 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.5 steals per contest. He totaled 51 points and shot 21-of-27 (77.8 percent) from the field, 6-of-8 (75 percent) from three-point range and 3-of-3 (100 percent) at the line.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Lazerek Houston, Central Missouri  
Lazerek Houston helped the Mules to a 2-0 record this past week with victories over Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State. The freshman guard led all MIAA scorers in the final week of the regular season with 52 points while shooting 48.7 percent from the floor, including 42 percent from beyond the arc, and adding 12 assists and 11 rebounds for good measure. In the 95-69 win over the Lions, Houston had 25 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor, including 54 percent from three, while adding a game-high seven assists. In the 78-61 victory over the Gorillas, Lazerek recorded his fifth double-double of the year with a game-high 27 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists for good measure. 
 
Jack Bachelor, Washburn
Jack Bachelor averaged 19.5 points per game with 8.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game as the Ichabods wrapped up their second outright MIAA title in a row last week. In the 88-49 win over Pittsburg State, the junior guard scored 13 points with eight assists and had a season-high seven rebounds with only one turnover and a block in the win over the Gorillas. In the Ichabods’ 84-74 regular season finale win over Missouri Southern, Bachelor scored a career-high 26 points while adding nine assists and no turnovers, hitting 5-of-9 from three-point range and 8-of-13 overall in the win. He scored 16 points in the second half, playing all 20 minutes of the frame.
 
Dan Mukuna, Fort Hays State
Dan Mukuna produced his sixth double-double of the season in a 15-point win over Nebraska-Kearney to close out the regular season. The junior forward totaled 24 points and 13 rebounds. The 13 rebounds were his second-most in a game this season. The win helped FHSU move up to the No. 6 seed for the MIAA Tournament.
