Brandon Scott Claims UAFS's First MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week award winner in week seven of the 2025-26 season. Arkansas-Fort Smith's Brandon Scott was crowned the latest MIAA Athlete of the Week for the Lions’ first weekly honor of the season.

MIAA MEN’S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Brandon Scott, Arkansas-Fort Smith
Brandon Scott averaged 24.0 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 47.6 percent (10-for-21) from the three-point range to lead the No. 11-ranked Lions to a pair of MIAA wins over Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern and match their best start in their NCAA Division II era at 13-0. In the 72-58 win over the Gorillas on Thursday (Jan. 1), Scott led the Lions with 15 points, five rebounds and a steal. He then scored a career-high 33 points with eight threes in the 90-83 win over Missouri Southern on Saturday (Jan. 3). Scott’s eight threes tied for the second most in a single game in program history. He also added five boards, a steal and a block against the Lions.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Parker Hannah, Central Oklahoma
Parker Hannah led Central Oklahoma to a pair of wins out of Christmas Break, including an MIAA road win at Newman. The junior guard averaged 23.0 points per game in two wins, scoring a career-high 19 in the Bronchos’ 83-49 victory over Dallas Christian last Tuesday (Dec. 30) in Edmond and followed that up with a new career-high 27 points in the 89-72 win over the Jets on Saturday (Jan. 3) in Wichita. Hannah shot 68.0 percent (17-for-25) for the week, including a 6-for-12 performance from behind the three-point line. He also hit a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
 
Dan Mukuna, Fort Hays State
Dan Mukuna led Fort Hays State in scoring through a pair of MIAA wins at home over Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western. The junior forward totaled 22 points and eight rebounds in the Tigers’ 67-50 win over the Bearcats. He then added 21 points and nine rebounds in a 67-65 win over the Griffons. He shot 58.6 percent from the field and 81.8 percent at the free-throw line for the week. Mukuna has scored at least 20 points in four-straight games, helping the Tigers extend their overall win streak to five-straight games.
 
Jeremiah Jones, Washburn
Jeremiah Jones led the Ichabods in the New Year with a career-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, which included 4-of-5 from deep while adding four steals, four assists and three boards in 30 minutes of action as the No. 1-ranked Ichabods topped Emporia State 91-66 in Washburn’s only action of the week. Jones scored 15 of his 20 points in the opening half, going 6-of-7 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range.
