KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week award winner in week five of the 2025-26 season. Washburn’s Dillon Claussen was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for the Ichabods’ first weekly honor of the season.
MIAA MEN’S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dillon Claussen, Washburn
Dillon Claussen tied for game-high honors, scoring 21 points in Washburn's 78-72 double overtime win over the Mules. The sophomore forward finished 7-of-14 from the field, hitting both three-point attempts. He also added seven rebounds, four assists and tying his career high of four blocks in the victory. Claussen scored six points in the two overtime periods, adding two blocks while playing all 10 additional minutes.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Tim Jordan Jr., Rogers State
Tim Jordan Jr. helped the Hillcats to a 2-0 week with wins over Central Oklahoma and Haskell. The junior forward averaged 16.5 points per game on 12-for-18 (67 percent) shooting. He finished a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line and 4-for-4 from behind the arc while adding six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Matthew Willenborg, Central Oklahoma
Matthew Willenborg continued leading the Bronchos this week with another double-double in Central Oklahoma’s five-point loss to Rogers State last Thursday (Dec. 11). The junior forward scored 24 points to go with 13 rebounds, six blocks and four steals.
Tyrone Wright Jr., Missouri Southern
Tyrone Wright Jr. led the Lions with a career-best 21 points and collected 10 rebounds in Missouri Southern’s 87-84 victory over Quincy on Dec. 12. Wright Jr. shot 8-for-11 from the field, chipping in a block and a steal. He was also 5-for-6 from the free throw line. The double-double outing was his second of the campaign. He has scored 18 or more points in each of the last three games and 20 or more in two of the last three games.
William Kiburis, Missouri Western
William Kiburis led the Griffons to a hard-fought road victory last Saturday (Dec. 13), to extend Missouri Western’s winning streak to six games with a 78-74 win over non-conference opponent Rockhurst. The junior guard recorded a career-high 21 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the field, 1-for-1 from three-point range, and 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. He recorded a game-high 10 rebounds to secure a double-double, while also adding two assists and one steal in 29 minutes of action.
