KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its final athletes of the week in the 2025 football season, presented by
FieldTurf. Pittsburg State’s Jackson Berry and Emporia State’s Landon Boss earned back-to-back honors as the league’s Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week, while Fort Hays State’s Kole Rogers was named the final Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jackson Berry, QB, Pittsburg State
Jackson Berry passed for 228 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 7 Pittsburg State to a 27-14 victory over No. 12 Northwest Missouri last Saturday (Nov. 15) at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan. The redshirt senior from Prosper, Texas, tossed a pair of first-quarter touchdown passes, including a 78-yard strike to wide receiver Tyjuan Atkins Jr. that staked the Gorillas to a 14-7 lead. Berry averaged 17.5 yards per completion in the contest as the Gorillas clinched a share of the 2025 MIAA Championship with the win over the Bearcats. The Offensive Athlete of the Week award is Berry’s second of the 2025 season, also earning the honor in week eleven.
DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Landon Boss, LB, Emporia State
Landon Boss led Emporia State with 14 tackles, two sacks and a career-high seven quarterback hurries as the Hornets held Fort Hays State’s offense to 188 yards of total offense. Boss and the Hornets’ defense forced five straight three-and-outs in the second quarter. He leads the MIAA in sacks and tackles for loss and is second in solo tackles. He also ranks fifth in Division II in solo tackles, ninth in tackles for loss, and 11th in sacks. Boss ranks fourth on the ESU single-season list for sacks in a season with ten, and tackles for loss with 18 this season. This is Boss’s fifth MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week honor – the most of any MIAA player this season.
SPECIAL TEAMS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kole Rogers, K, Fort Hays State
Kole Rogers finished 2-of-2 on field goal attempts, connecting from 41 and 43 yards, helping Fort Hays State to a 13-7 win at Emporia State last Saturday (Nov. 15). The freshman kicker was responsible for seven of the team's 13 total points, converting his only PAT attempt of the day as well. He also averaged 63.8 yards per kickoff.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Donovyn Omolo, QB, Central Missouri
Donoyn Omolo helped Central Missouri cap its 2025 season with a 38-24 road win at Nebraska Kearney last Saturday (Nov. 15). The redshirt freshman threw for 394 yards, going 27-of-40 with three passing touchdowns. Omolo had passing scores of 79 yards (to Jake Weber in the first quarter), 14 yards (to Morgan Pearson in the second quarter) and 14 yards (to Marlon Lindsey Jr. in the third quarter). He also added 14 rushing yards on six carries.
Dev Mathews, RB, Central Oklahoma
Dev Mathews led Central Oklahoma in the final week of the 2025 season, helping the Bronchos to a 54-10 MIAA road win over Missouri Western. The sophomore running back totaled 16 carries for 143 yards and three rushing touchdowns. He had rushing scores from 33, 35, and two yards out.
John Johnson, LB, Fort Hays State
John Johnson led the Tigers with nine tackles and added a pass breakup in Fort Hays State’s 13-7 road win over Emporia State, helping the Tigers secure a winning record in the regular season. The senior finished the season with 113 tackles to lead the Tigers and rank second in the MIAA. Johnson’s 343 career tackles also rank fourth in the NCAA Division II era at Fort Hays State.
Austin Schmitt, K, Pittsburg State
Austin Schmitt booted a pair of field goals and scored nine points on the day to help No. 7 Pittsburg State to a 27-14 win over No. 12 Northwest Missouri on Saturday (Nov. 15) at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan. Schmitt connected on a 28-yard field goal with 32 seconds to play in the second quarter that sent the Gorillas to the locker room with a 24-7 advantage. He added a 30-yard kick with 2:55 to play in the game to extend a 10-point Pitt State margin (24-14) to the game's final 13-point advantage.
