KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its Wrestler of the Week for the sixth week of competition in the 2022-23 season.
MIAA Wrestler of the Week – Dylan Lucas – Central Oklahoma
Dylan Lucas had a dominating performance in winning the 133-pound championship and leading Central Oklahoma to the team title at the prestigious Midwest Classic this past weekend. The No. 8-seeded sophomore went 5-0 with four bonus-point wins, knocking off the No. 1, 2 and 5 seeds in the process. He pinned the top-seed in the quarterfinals, followed with another fall over the No. 5 seed in the semifinals and finished with a 9-2 finals victory over the No. 2 seed. Lucas was also named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Cade Lindsey – Fort Hays State
Cade Lindsey racked up seven wins on his way to a third-place finish at 174 pounds at the Midwest Classic last weekend in Indianapolis. The sophomore recorded one technical fall and picked up three pins over the weekend, including a pair of first-period pin against nationally ranked opponents. Lindsey is now 23-3 on the year with 13 bonus-point wins.
Nick James – Nebraska Kearney
Nick James, ranked third nationally at 141 pounds, helped No. 2-ranked Nebraska Kearney win a triangular last Saturday. He first majored Augustana’s Kage Lenger 15-4, and then recorded a 25-9 tech fall (5:28) against York University’s Julian Marrufo. James is now 9-3 on the year including a 6-0 mark against Division II competition.
