KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its Wrestler of the Week for the fifth week of competition in the 2022-23 season.
 
MIAA Wrestler of the Week – Cade Lindsey – Fort Hays State
Cade Lindsey turned in a dominant performance at the Bob Smith Open over the weekend, taking home first place at 174 pounds after defeating his four opponents by a cumulative score of 52-2. The redshirt-sophomore did not give up an offensive point all day. All four of his wins were bonus-point affairs, including a 17-2 technical fall in the first round, a first-period pin in the quarterfinals, a 16-0 technical fall in the semifinals and a 9-0 major decision in the championship.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Joey Airola – Nebraska Kearney
Joey Airola competed in Bob Smith Open this past weekend. Airola, who has had his redshirt taken off at 133 pounds, was the Lopers’ lone winner at the annual Bob Smith Open in Hays, Kan. He went 4-0 with two bonus point wins and victories against three Division I wrestlers. He is now 16-3 on the year.
 
Shawn Streck – Central Oklahoma
Shawn Streck helped Central Oklahoma to a 45-6 dual victory over Newman to open MIAA competition last week. Streck recorded a first period fall at 285 pounds. The junior racked up seven takedowns before ending the match at the 2:43 mark.
