2022-23 MIAA Men's Golfers of the Week
(Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its sixth men’s golfer of the week for the 2022 fall season. All 10 MIAA men’s golf teams met in Newton, Kansas earlier this week to compete in the Newman Invitational for the Association’s second designated event of the 2022-23 season.
MIAA Golfer of the Week – Bennett Baldwin – Central Oklahoma
Bennett Baldwin made a late surge in the final round of the Newman Invitational for the runner up finish in the field of 85. The Bronchos sophomore led all MIAA opponents with a 54-hole, even-par total of 216, just one stroke behind the invitational’s champion, Arkansas Tech’s Jackson Cole. Baldwin was three strokes under par over the final five holes to finish -1, 71 in the final round. He also led the field with 12 birdies. Baldwin’s second-place individual finish is his best of the 2022 fall season.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Ben Marckmann – Missouri Southern
Ben Marckmann led the Lions to a runner up finish in the Newman Invitational. The junior placed third individually with three round total of +2, 218 (70-73-75). With five birdies in round one, Mackermann led the field after round one with a -2, 70. He ended the invitational with a team-high 35 pars and nine birdies.
Daniel Robles Delval – Rogers State
Daniel Robles led Rogers State at the Newman Invitational with a four-way tie finish after shooting +5, 221 (75-74-72). The sophomore sank 10 birdies across the 54 holes.
Jackson Rader – Fort Hays State
Jackson Rader turned in a top-five performance by tying for fourth individually at 5-over par overall to lead the Tigers. Rader carded 10 birdies over three rounds, posting rounds of 75, 73, and 73 at the par-72 course for a total of 221. He led the tournament in par-5 scoring, scoring 6-under par on the four par-5 holes on the course over three rounds. He tied for the second-most birdies in the tournament only behind Bennett Baldwin of Central Oklahoma with 12, who finished second individually at even par.
Ryan Morant – Northeastern State
Ryan Morant led the RiverHawks to a third-place team finish at the Newman Invitational. Morant shot a three-under on the back nine of the Sand Creek Station Golf Course and left tied for fourth place with a 221 (73-75-73). The senior led NSU with 35 pars and his second career top-five at NSU.
