2022-23 MIAA Men's Golfers of the Week (Week 1, Week 2, Week 3)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its fourth men’s golfer of the week for the 2022 fall season. Five MIAA teams competed in the Washburn Invitational earlier this week with Missouri’s Western’s Jeffery Johnston taking home the individual title.
 
MIAA Golfer of the Week – Jeffery Johnston – Missouri Western
Jeffery Johnston led the Griffons to a second-place finish and won his first-ever collegiate title at the Washburn Invitation. Johnston lead the field of 83 with a 54-hole score of -3, 210 (69-71-70). The sophomore led MWSU with 10 birdies over the three rounds. It was the Griffons’ first team title and individual champion since 2019.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Dawson Wills – Washburn
Dawson Wills led the Ichabods to the team title at their own Washburn Invitational. The senior came in second place in the tournament, missing out on first place to Jeffery Johnston of MWSU by just one stroke. Wills shot a 73 in the last round to finish the tournament at -2, 211 (66-72-73). His first-round score of -5, 66 was the lowest round of the invite. Wills’s 13 birdies also tied for the high of the invitational.
 
Jackson Rader – Fort Hays State
Jackson Rader tied for sixth individually at the Washburn Invitational, shooting 4-over par at the par-71 venue. The sophomore was consistent throughout the tournament, carding rounds of 72, 73, and 72 for a 54-hole total of 217. He had 13 birdies, tying for the tournament lead with Dawson Wills of Washburn who finished in second at 2-under par overall and Ben Corbid of Bemidji State.
