KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its final men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week from the 2026 outdoor season, presented by
Beynon – the official track surface of the MIAA. Pittsburg State’s Caden Williams ran the quickest 400-meter time in Division II to be named the final Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Missouri Southern’s Jamale Williams ends the regular season as the league’s back-to-back Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Caden Williams, Pittsburg State
Caden Williams clocked the fastest time in NCAA Division II in the 400 meters this season at the University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational last Friday (Apr. 24). The junior from Katy, Texas, crossed the finish line in 45.89 seconds. His personal best effort moved him to No. 3 on Pitt State's all-time record list in the discipline.
OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jamale Williams, Missouri Southern
Jamale Williams swept the shot put and discus titles at Arkansas’ Division I John McDonnell Invitational. He captured first place in shot put with a season-best 18.45 meters (60-6.5) and was also first in discus with 58.51 meters (191-11). Both marks are NCAA-qualifying marks, as Williams ranks first in NCAA Division II for discus and fourth for shot put in the 2026 outdoor season. Williams has now won three titles from this spring alone.
NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES:
Nolan Vancauwemberghe, Central Missouri
Nolan Vancauwemberghe ran the third-fastest 110-meter hurdles time in NCAA Division II this season at 13.66, placing third at the John McDonnell Invitational on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark. His time is also a personal best, a provisional time, and ranks second-fastest in UCM school history. Vancauwemberghe was the top Division II placer in the event.
Carter Hohlen, Nebraska Kearney
Carter Hohlen was the runner-up in the men’s steeple chase last Friday (Apr. 24) at the annual Kip Janvrin Open in Iowa. His time of 8:58.68 ranks fourth in school history, currently ranks 14th in Division II, and first in the MIAA.
NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES:
Drake Stapleton, Pittsburg State
Drake Stapleton posted the seventh-best mark in NCAA Division II in the shot put this season at the University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational last Friday (Apr. 24). The redshirt junior from Caney, Kan., tossed the iron pellet 18.15 meters (59-6.75). His personal best effort moved him to No. 6 on Pitt State's all-time record list in the discipline.
Josiah Ball, Fort Hays State
Josiah Ball won the men’s pole vault competition at the Alex Francis Classic with a top clearance of 5.16 meters (16-11), moving to 15th on the NCAA Division II outdoor performance charts.
