KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its final Track and Field Athletes of the Week from the 2025-26 men’s indoor season, presented by
Beynon – the official track surface of the MIAA. The Gorillas swept the league’s final indoor honors of the season with Pittsburg State’s Tyrone Jackson named the Track Athlete of the Week and Grayson Smith named the Field Athlete of the Week.
INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Tyrone Jackson, Pittsburg State
Tryone Jackson placed second overall and first among non-NCAA Division I athletes in the 60-meter hurdles at the University of Arkansas Qualifier last Friday (Feb. 20). The Mayfield, Ohio native matched his personal record time in the discipline, crossing the finish line in 7.79 seconds. He now ranks second nationally in NCAA Division II 60-meter hurdles this season.
INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Grayson Smith, Pittsburg State
Grayson Smith won the pole vault at the University of Arkansas Qualifier with a clearance of 17 feet, 1.5 inches (5.22 meters) last Friday (Feb. 20) at The Randal Tyson Indoor Track. The Webb City, Mo., native is ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II this season in the discipline.
NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES:
Truman Hare, Northwest Missouri
Truman Hare put up some blistering times this week at the Northwest Tune Up and the K-State Steve Miller Invitational. The junior captured the 400-meter title at the K-State Steve Miller Invitational with an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 46.81. Hare was also part of the Bearcat 4x400 meter relay squad that secured the nation's ninth-best time at the Northwest Tune Up, finishing in 3:09.67. Hare combined with Danny Jantzen, Christian Lanphier and Josh Fraker for the second-best time in Bearcat indoor history.
NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES:
Josiah Ball, Fort Hays State
Josiah Ball set a new PR with a top clearance of 16-10.75 (5.15 meters) in the pole vault at the Steve Miller Invitational last Friday. That performance ranks 12th in Division II this season and is third at Fort Hays State during the program's Division II era.
