New MIAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, Presented by Beynon

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced new men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week from week five of the 2026 outdoor season, presented by Beynon – the official track surface of the MIAA. Northwest Missouri’s Aziz Mohammed ran the top 1,500-meter time in Division II to claim his first Track Athlete of the Week honor in the outdoor season, and Missouri Southern’s Jamale Williams recorded the top discus throw mark in Division II to earn his first Field Athlete of the Week honor.     
 
OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Aziz Mohammed, Northwest Missouri    
Aziz Mohammed ran the fastest 1,500-meter time in NCAA Division II this past Saturday (Apr. 18) at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Mohammed captured first place in his event with a time of 3:38.68. His performance also set a new Bearcat school record.
 
OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jamale Williams, Missouri Southern
Jamale Williams won the 2026 Pittsburg State Tune-Up discus throw title on Sunday (Apr. 19) with the top mark in NCAA Division II of 59.86 meters (196-5). The distance was also good for a new Missouri Southern program-record and personal-best. The junior thrower also took third in the shot put with 18.05 meters (59-2.75) at the Tune-Up. Williams leads NCAA Division II in 2026 for discus and ranks seventh for shot put. 
 
NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES:
Na’Koriyon James, Pittsburg State
Na’Koriyon James posted the fifth fastest time in NCAA Division II in the 110-meter hurdles this season at the PSU Tune-Up Meet last Sunday (Apr. 19). The sophomore from Maple Heights, Ohio, was clocked in a personal best 13.70 seconds in the race.
 
Avrey Albright, Fort Hays State
Avrey Albright was a part of three national-qualifying performances last Sunday (Apr. 19) at the Loper Invite, winning all three races. He ran the 400 meters in 47.42, surpassing the national qualifying time for a third time this season in that race. He also teamed up with three other Tigers to run national-qualifying times in both the 4x100-meter relay in 40.51 and the 4x400-meter relay in 3:13.49.
 
Ezekiel Seamster, Emporia State
Ezekiel Seamster ran a provisional qualifier of 10.25 to finish fourth in the men's 100-meter dash over the weekend. He is now second all-time at Emporia State, behind Ty Anderson's 10.13 set at last year's NCAA Championships. Seamster leads the MIAA and is ranked ninth in Division II in the 100 meters. He also finished third in the 200 meters in 21.16, as well as running a leg on both the winning 4x100 meter relay and third place 4x400 meter relay. The Hornets’ 4x100-meter relay won with a time of 40.74, which ranks ninth best in Emporia State history. He was an injury replacement on the 4x400 meter relay that ran a provisional qualifying time of 3:11.79, which ranks 30th in the nation.
 
NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES:
Justin Forde, Washburn
Justin Forde won the triple jump at the ESU Relays with the new top jump in the NCAA Division II ranks with a mark of 16.4 meters (53-11). The distance is the longest in Division II ranks by 10 inches. The senior also broke his own school record by nearly 10 inches.
 
Grayson Smith, Pittsburg State
Grayson Smith posted the third-best pole vault mark in NCAA Division II this season with his clearance of 18 feet, 0.5 inches (5.50 meters) at the PSU Tune-Up Meet last Sunday (Apr. 19). The redshirt sophomore from Webb City, Mo., set the Pitt State record in the discipline with his winning clearance.
 
Hunter Angove, Fort Hays State
Hunter Angove cleared a collegiate-best 17-3.5 (5.27 meters) in the pole vault at the ESU Relays last Thursday (Apr. 16). His mark was good for the sixth-best pole vault mark in Division II this season and ranks second in the MIAA.
