KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week award winner for week 12 of the 2025-26 season. Fort Hays State’s Brooke Loewe was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
MIAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Brooke Loewe, Fort Hays State
Brooke Loewe averaged a double-double in a pair of MIAA road wins over the weekend, putting up 12.0 points, 11.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game against Northeastern State and Arkansas-Fort Smith. The senior opened the week with a 14-point, 14-assist double-double in the Tigers’ 68-63 victory at Northeastern State, surpassing 14 assists for the sixth time this season. She also hit 81.3 percent from the free-throw line (13-of-16), knocking down clutch free throws down the stretch in each game to help the Tigers secure victory. This is Loewe’s second MIAA Athlete of the Week honor and the Tigers’ seventh weekly award overall this season.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Vanessa Coleman, Emporia State
Vanessa Coleman hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer in Emporia State's 65-63 upset win over No. 15-ranked Pittsburg State, highlighting a week in which she averaged 17.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. The freshman forward scored a career high 22 points with five rebounds in the win against the Gorillas. She had nine points in the fourth quarter, including ESU's final five points for the win. Coleman then had her first career double-double and almost recorded a triple-double with 12 points and career highs of 10 rebounds and seven assists in the 74-69 loss to Missouri Southern.
Ana Oliveria Dias, Missouri Western
Ana Oliveira Dias averaged 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game while playing 39.5 minutes per contest as Missouri Western picked up a pair of MIAA wins at home. Dias shot 42.4 percent from the field (14-of-33), finished 20.0 percent from three-point range (1-of-5), and was perfect at the free-throw line (1-of-1), adding 1.5 steals per game. In the 67-52 win over Rogers State on Feb. 5, Dias logged 34:56 of action and finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. She went 5-of-15 from the floor, knocked down one three-pointer. She followed with a strong all-around performance in an 80-71 overtime win against Central Oklahoma on Feb. 7, scoring 18 points to go with five rebounds and six assists in 44:05 of play. Dias shot 9-of-18 from the field, dished out six assists, and recorded three steals.
Alexis Martin, Newman
Despite back-to-back losses, Alexis Martin averaged a league-best 28 points per game this week for the Jets last week. The junior guard scored a career high 39 points in the 81-76 overtime loss to No. 15 Pittsburg State. Her 39 points set a new program record at Newman for most points in a single game and most points scored in an MIAA game. Martin also shot 9-of-19 from behind the arc this weekend for 47 percent shooting from the three.
