KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week award winner for week seven of the 2025-26 season. Fort Hays State’s Talexa Weeter was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for her fourth weekly honor of the season.

MIAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Talexa Weeter, Fort Hays State
Talexa Weeter opened the new year with a huge week, averaging 37.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a pair of conference wins at home. The junior quickly shook off the rust following the two-week holiday break, erupting for 45 points in an 84-71 come-from-behind victory over Northwest Missouri on Thursday (Jan. 1). Her 45 points tied for the most by a Division II athlete this season, is one shy of the program record, and is just the fourth 40-point game in team history. She added 10 rebounds while also setting the team record of 17 made free throws and tying the program record with 20 free throw attempts against the Bearcats. Weeter then racked up 29 points and matched her career-high 14 rebounds against Missouri Western on Saturday (Jan. 3) alongside three assists, three steals and three blocks. She hit an impressive 64 percent from the floor, 56 percent from behind the arc and 88 percent from the free-throw line for the week. This is Weeter’s fourth MIAA Athlete of the Week honor in the seven weeks of competition so far in the 2025-26 season.
