Fort Hays State's Weeter Earns Third Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week award winner for week five of the 2025-26 season. Fort Hays State’s Talexa Weeter was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
 
MIAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Talexa Weeter, Fort Hays State
Talexa Weeter recorded a double-double in Fort Hays State’s 18-point win over No. 6 Pittsburg State on Saturday (Dec. 13), totaling 32 points and 13 rebounds in the nonconference contest. The junior hit 11-of-19 from the floor and knocked down 8-of-10 from the free-throw line while adding three assists, one steal and one block. It was Weeter's fourth 30-point game this season and her third double-double. She currently leads Division II and also leads all Division I athletes with an average of 28.6 points per game this season.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Reese Schaaf, Central Missouri
Reese Schaaf helped the Jennies post a 67-56 victory over the receiving votes Washburn Ichabods on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 13) at Lee Arena in Topeka, Kan. The senior forward totaled 24 points and snagged 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She shot 70 percent from the field, going 7-of-10 overall and 3-of-4 from three-point range, and 7-of-8 at the free-throw line. Schaaf also dished out six assists and had a career-high six steals. 
 
Nykaiya Dillard, Central Oklahoma
Nykaiya Dillard led all scorers with 25 points in the Bronchos three-point loss to Rogers State last Thursday (Dec. 11). The freshman guard scored 10 straight points to erase a 10-point deficit, which was 17 earlier in the game. She also added four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
