KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its final women’s soccer athletes of the week in the 2026 season. Three student-athletes from three different institutions earned the league’s final weekly awards with Northwest Missouri’s Lydia McVey named the Offensive Athlete of the Week, Washburn’s Rilyn Snyder named the Defender of the Week, and Central Oklahoma’s Maddie Ortwein named the Goalkeeper of the Week.

OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:  Lydia McVey, Northwest Missouri
Lydia McVey tied the Northwest Missouri school record for single-match assists with three in the Bearcats’ 5-2 win over Rogers State this past Sunday (Oct. 25) at home. The freshman midfielder assisted Northwest’s first three goals against the Hillcats. She also played 55 minutes of the Bearcats’ 1-0 win over Emporia State last Friday (Oct. 23), helping Northwest to an undefeated week in MIAA action. McVey is the first Bearcat to earn an MIAA Athlete of the Week award in the 2026 season.

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK:  Rilyn Snyder, Washburn
Rilyn Snyder helped No. 24-ranked Washburn earn a 0-0 draw against No. 19 Central Missouri last Friday (Oct. 23) in Warrensburg. The senior totaled 67 minutes against the Jennies, helping the Ichabods’ defense collect its 10th shutout of the season. Snyder is the second straight Ichabod to be named the MIAA Defender of the Week, following Lindsey Maul as last week’s honoree.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK:  Maddie Ortwein, Central Oklahoma
Maddie Ortwein led Central Oklahoma to a pair of crucial MIAA wins in Edmond this past weekend, helping the Bronchos secure a home playoff game in next week's MIAA Women's Soccer Championship. Ortwein made five saves in two games and only conceded one goal on a penalty. Ortwein collected three saves in the Bronchos’ 2-1 win over Fort Hays State last Friday (Oct. 23). She added two others in the 1-0 win over Nebraska Kearney on Sunday (Oct. 25), earning her fifth shutout of the season. The Goalkeeper of the Week honor is Ortwein’s first weekly award and the Bronchos’ fourth MIAA Athlete of the Week honor overall this season.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Lili Everley, Washburn
Lili Everley recorded her eighth full game shutout of the season last Friday (Oct. 23) at No. 19 Central Missouri. Everley recorded two saves in the match and has 40 saves in 16 matches this season. The sophomore keeper currently ranks third in the MIAA in save percentage at .889 and has only given up five goals this season.
