KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced new women’s soccer athletes of the week for week four of the 2026 season. For the fourth consecutive week, three new student-athletes earned the league’s latest weekly honors with Emporia State’s Ella Favot named the Offensive Athlete of the Week, Missouri Western’s Marielle Wright named the Defender of the Week, and Rogers State’s Calais Butts named the Goalkeeper of the Week.
OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ella Favot, Emporia State
Ella Favot led the Hornets to back-to-back MIAA wins last week while hosting Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State at home to begin the 2026 conference schedule. The sophomore midfielder opened the week with an assist on the Hornets’ first goal in Emporia’s 3-1 win over the Lopers last Friday (Sept. 18). She then had two goals on Sunday (Sept. 20) in the 3-0 shutout against the Tigers, marking her second match with multiple goals this season. Favot totaled five points on the week with four shots and three attempts on target.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Marielle Wright, Missouri Western
Marielle Wright played all 180 minutes for the Griffons’ back line as MoWest went 1-0-1 to open MIAA play. The junior defender helped the Griffons earn a 1-1 draw against Central Oklahoma before shutting out Northeastern State 1-0. Wright played the full 90 minutes in both matches and helped MoWest allow just one goal across 180 minutes. The Griffons closed out their five-match homestand unbeaten and extended their home undefeated streak to 26 consecutive matches. MoWest is 19-0-7 at Spratt Stadium since the start of the 2024 season.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK: Calais Butts, Rogers State
Calais Butts (4-1-1) collected her first complete-game shutouts of the season as Rogers State opened MIAA competition against Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney at home. While playing all 180 minutes in goal, the senior from Edmonton, Canada, recorded four saves in the 3-0 win over the Tigers and added eight more in the 2-0 shutout against the Lopers. Butts is now 4-1-1 in goal for the Hillcats this season.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Kendall Knisley, Missouri Western
Kendall Knisley led the Griffons’ attack as MoWest went unbeaten during its opening weekend of MIAA play, earning a 1-1 draw against Central Oklahoma before defeating Northeastern State 1-0. Knisley scored both of MoWest’s goals on the weekend, totaling four points while placing four of her six shots on goal. The senior first scored against the Bronchos before delivering the game-winning goal against the RiverHawks. Knisley played 166 minutes across the two matches. The Griffons closed out their five-match homestand unbeaten and extended their home undefeated streak to 26 consecutive matches. MoWest is 19-0-7 at Spratt Stadium since the start of the 2024 season.
Khari Carreno, Rogers State
Khari Carreno was instrumental in the Hillcats' wins over Fort Hays State last Friday and Nebraska Kearney on Sunday. The senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., chipped in a goal in both matches, the first in the 54th minute against the Tigers and then the game-winner in the 2-0 win over the Lopers in the 19th minute. Carreno finished with two shots on goal in 102 minutes of action.
Aubrey Seltman, Emporia State
Aubrey Seltman played a key role as the Hornets opened MIAA action with back-to-back wins. The junior defender first picked up an assist in Friday's 3-1 win over Nebraska Kearney. She then followed that by helping the Hornets to their first shutout win of the season with a 3-0 win over Fort Hays State.
Andrea Guzman, Emporia State
Andrea Guzman played all 180 minutes between the posts for the Hornets and tallied a league-high 14 saves on the week. The freshman keeper had seven saves in both matches and picked up her first career shutout in Sunday afternoon’s 3-0 win over Fort Hays State as she moved to 4-0 in her starts this season.
Jocelyn Kramar, Pittsburg State
Jocelyn Kramar helped the Gorillas go 2-0 to begin MIAA play while hosting Newman and No. 18-ranked Washburn at home. The junior keeper played all 90 minutes against the ranked Ichabods and collected two saves in the 1-0 upset.
