KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its 10th Softball Athletes of the Week, presented by
Mammoth Turf, for the 2022 season. Central Oklahoma swept this week’s honors with Shayla Harper selected as the MIAA Hitter of the Week and Kylee Lynch as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
MIAA Hitter of the Week – Shayla Harper – Central Oklahoma
Shayla Harper batted .583 with a 1.167 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage in leading Central Oklahoma’s offense in four league road wins over the weekend. The junior third baseman had seven hits in 12 at bats with two homers, one double and six RBI while also scoring six runs. Harper had a homerun in each game of a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln, then went 3-for-5 with a pair of walks in a sweep of Central Missouri. This is Harper’s second MIAA Hitter of the Week honor this season.
MIAA Pitcher of the Week – Kylee Lynch – Central Oklahoma
Kylee Lynch threw complete-game shutouts in both games over the weekend, finishing with a 0.00 ERA. The sophomore left-hander allowed just six hits and didn’t walk a batter in 13 total innings while striking out 13 as opponents hit a mere .133. She fanned a career-high 10 and threw a two-hitter in the Bronchos six-inning 9-0 run-rule win over Lincoln, then came back the next day to toss a four-hitter with three strikeouts in a 6-0 victory over Central Missouri. Lynch retired the final 11 batters of the game against UCM. This is her third MIAA Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.

Hitters
Abbey Rogers – Rogers State
Abbey Rogers powered the No. 3-ranked Hillcats to a 4-0 record last week with MIAA sweeps of Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri. The freshman hit .455 (5-for-11) at the plate with seven RBI, a double and two home runs with two walks. In the second game against the Griffons, Rogers hit a solo home run to cement the Hillcats 3-1 win. Against the Bearcats, she launched a grand slam as part of eight total home runs hit against the Bearcats in the doubleheader.
Marrit Mead – Washburn
Marrit Mead led the Ichabods last week with a .500 batting average as the team was 4-0. Mead was 8-of-16 with two doubles while driving in a team-high five runs and scoring twice in sweeps over Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney. Against FHSU in the opening game, Mead drove in two runs with three hits in the 4-0 win. In the nightcap against the Lopers, she scored a run collecting two hits.
Pitchers
Andrea Morales – Rogers State
Andrea Morales continued her dominant streak as she led the Hillcats to a 2-0 record in her two starts last week against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri. In total, the senior earned a 1.29 ERA in 14.0 innings with 22 strikeouts and only allowing six hits and no walks.
Jaycee Ginter – Washburn
Jaycee Ginter was 2-0 with a save and a 0.44 ERA striking out 23 with two walks, two complete game shutouts in 16 innings pitched improving to 21-3 on the season. In the opening game against Fort Hays State, Ginter struck out eight in the seven inning, complete game shutout with one walk allowing four hits in the 4-0 win. In game one against Nebraska Kearneys, Ginter tossed another complete game shutout striking out 10 with no walks giving up one hit. In the second game against the Lopers, she pitched two innings striking out five giving up two hits allowing one earned run in relief, picking up the save. Ginter also had two home runs and a .818 slugging percentage driving in five at the plate.
