KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its sixth Softball Athletes of the Week, presented by Mammoth Turf, for the 2022 season. Central Oklahoma swept this week’s honors with Jacee Minter selected as the Hitter of the Week and Kylee Lynch as the Pitcher of the Week.
 
MIAA Hitter of the Week – Jacee Minter – Central Oklahoma
Jacee Minter helped lead Central Oklahoma to consecutive doubleheaders sweeps to open MIAA play. The sophomore outfielder hit .455 with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI to finish with a 1.182 slugging percentage. She also drew three walks in amassing a .571 on-base percentage. Minter hit three-run homers in both of Bronchos’ wins over Emporia State. This is Minter's second Hitter of the Week recognition this season. 
 
MIAA Pitcher of the Week – Kylee Lynch – Central Oklahoma  
Kylee Lynch dominated in the circle as Central Oklahoma opened defense of its MIAA title with back-to-back sweeps. The sophomore left-hander went 2-0 with one save and an 0.82 ERA, with opponents hitting just .132. She pitched in three games with two starts, both five-inning complete games. Lynch allowed three hits in an 8-0 win over Emporia State and two in a 15-1 win over Washburn while also picked up a save against Washburn with one no-hit inning. This is the second time this season Lynch has been named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week. 
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Hitters
Kianna Pellegrino – Pittsburg State
Kianna Pellegrino helped Pitt State sweep an MIAA doubleheader against Lincoln this past Sunday. In the twinbill, the sophomore right fielder went 4-for-5 at the plate and totaled six RBI as the Gorillas beat the Blue Tigers, 15-7 and 10-1. Her four hits included two triples, a solo home run and a double.
 
Elexis Watson – Rogers State
Elexis Watson powered the No. 5 Hillcats to a 2-0 week sweeping Northeastern State in the MIAA opener. The senior went 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBI, a home run and a run scored.
 
Leslie Callahan – Lincoln
Leslie Callahan hit her first two career home runs this week and posted a 1.167 slugging percentage as well as a .583 batting average. Callahan, who had seven hits on the week, finished with three runs and three RBI and did not strike out in any of her plate appearances.
 
Pitchers
Andrea Morales – Rogers State
Andrea Morales continued her dominant streak in circle to begin MIAA play against Northeastern State with the complete game win in the first game on Thursday and earned the save in the second game. In the first game, the senior went 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. In the second game, she earned her first save of the season pitching the final two outs of the seventh inning.
