KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its ninth Softball Athletes of the Week, presented by
Mammoth Turf, for the 2022 season. Washburn’s Paige Robbins was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week while Roger State’s Andrea Morales and Washburn’s Jaycee Ginter were selected as Co-Pitchers of the Week.
MIAA Hitter of the Week – Paige Robbins – Washburn
Paige Robbins was 11-for-15 during the week with a .733 batting average while driving in six runs, scoring a team-high seven runs, compilied a .750 on base percentage and a .867 slugging percentage as the Ichabods went 4-0 during the week. For the Ichabods’ two-game series against the Missouri Western, Robbins went 7-for-7 with five runs scored and a walk with two RBI, reaching on base in all eight plate appearances. In the second game against the Griffons, the junior outfielder had a career-high four hits. Against the Bearcats, Robbins finished 4-for-8 in the series with two doubles, four RBI and a stolen base.
Co-MIAA Pitcher of the Week – Andrea Morales – Rogers State
Andrea Morales led the No. 3-ranked Hillcats to a 3-0 record in her three starts in four total outings last week with wins over Arkansas Tech, Lincoln and Central Missouri. In 18.0 innings, she struck out 36 batters and only allowed one run on four hits, lowering her ERA 1.27. In the second game against UCM, the senior earned her second save of the season striking out five of the six batters she faced in the final 2.0 innings. This is Morales's third MIAA Pitcher of the Week honor this seaosn.
Co-MIAA Pitcher of the Week – Jaycee Ginter – Washburn
Jaycee Ginter claimed the MIAA’s Pitcher of the Week honor for the second consecutive week. The Ichabods sophomore went 2-0 with a save and a 0.91 ERA in 15.1 inning pitched as Washburn was 4-0 during the week. Ginter striking out 24 with four walks, scattering five hits while holding opponents to a .100 batting average. At the plate, Ginter batting .692 with a 1.154 slugging percentage going 9-for-13 at the plate with four doubles and 10 RBI scoring three runs. In the opening game against Missouri Western, Ginter struck out 13 in an 8-1 win giving up two hits and an earned run walking one. In the nightcap against the Griffons’ she pitched 1.1 innings in relief, earning the save after retiring all four batters she faced, striking out two. In the opener, Ginter broke the Washburn single-season strikeout record with her 183rd. Against Northwest, she tossed a complete six-inning game allowing two hits and an earned run striking out eight. In the second game, in a non-save situation she finished out the game tossing an inning in relief striking out one. This is Ginter's fourth MIAA Pitcher of the Week honor this season.

Hitters
Chloe Bohuslavicky – Northeastern State
Chloe Bohuslavicky batted .538 for Northeastern State and led the RiverHawks with nine RBI while slugging 1.077 with a pair of homers. The sophomore hit a grand slam in a 13-7 win over Central Missouri and added a solo homer in an 8-0 run-ruled win over Lincoln. Six of her nine RBI came with two outs. Bohuslavicky also batted 5-for-10 with runners on.
Elexis Watson – Rogers State
Elexis Watson led the Hillcats to a 5-1 record last week with wins over Arkansas Tech, Lincoln and Central Missouri. At the plate, Watson hit .533 (8-for-15) with five RBI, three home runs, two doubles and three runs.
Harley Sturm – Emporia State
Harley Sturm hit .667 with a 1.631 OPS in four games for the Hornets last week. She was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in Emporia State’s 8-0 game one run-rule win over Northwest Missouri. Sturm went 2-for-3 again with three runs scored and an RBI in ESU’s second 8-0 win over the Bearcats. The freshman first baseman was 1-for-3 in the Hornets 2-1 loss to Missouri Western. She was a home run shy of the cycle going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, one run, one RBI and a hit by pitch in ESU’s 9-7 loss to the Griffons. Her RBI double got the Hornets on the board and she would come around to score to tie the game at 3-3. She tripled to lead off the bottom of the seventh and bring the tying run to the plate but was stranded.
Pitchers
Bailey Lacy
Bailey Lacy helped the Lions to sweeps over Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State this past week. For the week, Lacy went 2-0 with two complete games with shutout and a 0.50 ERA while striking out 17 batters and limited them to a .167 batting average. Against Nebraska Kearney, who began the week undefeated in MIAA play, Lacy picked up a four hit shutout with eight strikeouts in 91 pitches before ending the week with her ninth win of the season where she stuck out nine Tigers in seven innings in her seventh complete game of the season. In MIAA ranks, Lacy is now sixth in the MIAA with a 2.53 ERA, seventh in innings pitched at 94.0, strikeouts with 86 and wins with nine.
