KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its fifth MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the 2021-22 season.
 
MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Shiloh McCool – Nebraska Kearney  
Shilohh McCool has been selected as the MIAA Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. The junior guard recorder her fourth straight double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds in a come-from-behind 61-56 win at No. 1 Fort Hays State. McCool went 7-of-10 from the floor and grabbed 12 defensive boards while adding two assists and two steals. The Lopers are now 4-2 in the last six games at Gross Memorial.
 
Notable Performances
Corbyn Cunningham – Missouri Western State
Corbyn Cunningham averaged 23.0 points across Missouri Western’s two games last week. The Griffons senior posted her second double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds in just 25 minutes on the court in MWSU’s 88-52 win over Lincoln. Cunningham then scored 25 points and brought down nine boards in the Griffon’s 68-67 victory against Central Missouri, also adding an assist and a steal. Defensively, Cunningham held the MIAA’s leading scorer to just four points in the fourth quarter as the Griffons completed the comeback from a one-point halftime and two-point third quarter deficit. Cunningham currently ranks fifth in the league in field goal percentage (51.6 percent, 47-91) and fourth in offensive rebounds (25, 3.13/gm) on the year.
 
Kelsey Johnson – Central Oklahoma
Kelsey Johnson led Central Oklahoma to a weekend sweep of MIAA opponents, beating Washburn 69-58 and Emporia State 74-72 at home. The senior forward averaged 18.0 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game as she notched her fifth and sixth consecutive double-doubles. Johnson hit the game-winning free-throws against Emporia State with 0.3 seconds left to give the UCO its third straight victory. For the week, Johnson shot 55 percent overall, 100 percent from the 3-point line and was a perfect 13-for-13 from the free-throw line.
 
Nija Collier – Central Missouri
Nija Collier scored 30 points and snagged 15 rebounds in Central Missouri’s 68-67 overtime loss at No. 20 Missouri Western last week. The senior forward netted her 30 points on 13-for-22 shooting from the floor and 4-of-6 shooting at the free-throw line. Collier also totaled three blocks and one steal in the game. She now has a team-high seven double-doubles on the season and has scored at least 30 points in back-to-back games.
