Pittsburg State Wins Fifth Straight Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship

PSU Uses One-Fifth Team Point Advantage To Edge Out MSSU For Title

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Pittsburg State won the 2019 MIAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship for the fifth consecutive season. The Gorillas narrowly edged out Missouri Southern by two-tenths of a point for the team title.

12437PSU claimed individual titles in the 10,000 and 5,000 meter-runs by Piper Misse, Hammer Throw from Jena Black, 3,000-meter Steeple Chase from Katren Rienbolt and 100-meter hurdles from Courtney Nelson. Pittsburg State also won gold in the 4x100 meter relay.

The women’s high point winner was Meleah Ridenour from Southwest Baptist. Ridenour claimed gold in the long jump and high jump. She was runner-up in the triple jump and helped SBU finish fourth in the 4x100 meter relay.

Pittsburg State finished the team standings with 144.20 points as MSSU was second with 144 points. Lincoln finished third with 104 points and Southwest Baptist was fourth with 96 points. Central Missouri rounded out the top-five with 79.50 team points.
