Pitt State Women Win Fifth Straight Indoor Title at 2026 MIAA Championship

PITTSBURG, Kan. The Pittsburg State University women’s track and field program won its fifth consecutive indoor title at the 2026 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the Gorillas February 28-March 1 in Pittsburg. Northwest Missouri women finished as the league’s indoor runner-up, also for the fifth consecutive season.
 
MIAA track and field teams filled the Gorillas’ Robert W. Plaster Center this weekend for the 2026 Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day event crowned 16 individual MIAA champions, two MIAA champion relay teams, and had six indoor record-breaking performances.
 
Pittsburg State totaled over 200 points in the MIAA indoor championship meet for the third straight season to win the program’s ninth indoor title in the last ten seasons (212 points in 2026, 222 points in 2025, 221 points in 2024). Northwest Missouri was the championship’s runner-up for the fifth consecutive season with 106 points, and Washburn finished third with 90 points.
 
The Gorillas walked away with 18 All-MIAA performances and eight champion titles. Northwest Missouri totaled nine All-MIAA performances, had two individual champions, and swept the championship’s relay team events, taking first place in the 4x400 meter relay and the distance medley relay.
 
Three student-athletes won two individual titles at the 2026 indoor championships. Central Missouri sprinter Grizell Scarlet won both the 60 meters and 200 meters, Missouri Southern thrower Dailynn VanDeren took home MIAA titles in the shot put and weight throw, and Pittsburg State distance runner Paige Mullen was crowned the MIAA champion in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter races. Mullen also earned the MIAA High Point Award for a second straight year, totaling 26 points in the meet.

NCAA Division II indoor national qualifiers will be announced on Tuesday, March 3.
