VIRGINA BEACH, Va. – The Pittsburg State University women’s track and field program stormed to the finish line in the team standings on Saturday (Mar. 14) as the Gorillas rallied from behind to capture their second consecutive indoor national title at the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. MIAA women totaled 30 All-America performances over the two-day event at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
Seventeen MIAA track and field programs (nine women’s, eight men’s) combined for 100 individual event entries and seven relay team entries for the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships, hosted March 13-14 in Virginia Beach. Of the league’s total 47 individual entries and three qualifying relay teams in the women’s championship, the MIAA women earned 27 individual All-America performances and three All-America relay teams. There were also two MIAA women crowned individual national champions — Pittsburg State’s Isaeblle Peters with a first-place finish in the pole vault (4.43 meters) and Pitt State’s Jazmine Williamson with a first-place finish in the high jump (1.80 meters).
The Gorillas compiled 69.5 team points to claim the program's fourth all-time national championship and back-to-back indoor national title
(2026 Indoor Champions, 2025 Indoor Champions, 2024 Outdoor Champions, 2016 Outdoor Champions). West Texas A&M University secured the national runner-up finish with 59 points and Adams State University placed third with 47 points.
Pitt State scored in nine of the 17 events overall, and sealed the victory late Saturday afternoon with a 22.5-point outburst by MIAA sisters Belle and Breanne Peters, and Cannon Booker in the women’s pole vault. Belle Peters claimed the national title with a clearance of 4.42 meters (14 feet, 6 inches), while Breanne Peters was the national runner-up with a personal-best height of 4.37 meters (14 feet, 4 inches). Booker placed fourth in the event with a personal record mark of 4.27 meters (14 feet). In total, the Gorillas earned 13 individual All-America honors and had one All-American relay team.
Central Missouri totaled 16 points to place 12th at the indoor national championship, highlighted by the Jennies’ two-time All-American sprinter Grizell Scarlett, who finished as the 2026 indoor runner-up in both the women’s 60 meters (7.33) and 200 meters (23.58).
The throwers of Missouri Southern led the Lions to 13th in the team standings with 15 points. Dailynn VanDeren was named a two-time All-American with a third-place finish in both the women’s shot put (16.20 meters) and weight throw (20.63 meters). Southern’s Briar Gillum (seventh place, 19.19 meters) and Kristen Womack (eighth place, 19.06 meters) also earned All-America honors in the women’s weight throw competition.
Nebraska Kearney placed 25th and totaled two All-America honors. Washburn also had two All-America performers and placed 29th. Missouri Western placed 43rd with one All-American thrower.
The Pitt State men also captured the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship, marking the second straight year the Gorillas swept both women's and men's indoor track and field national titles. The last school to accomplish that feat was St. Augustine's College in 2007.
