Several MIAA Indoor Meet records fall over the three day event

Lincoln swept the MIAA Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships behind some strong finishes in the springing events. Pittsburg State finished in second on the women’s side with Missouri Southern placing second for the men.7485

Emilyn Dearman of Pittsburg State got the scoring started winning the MIAA title in the pentathlon with 3,928 points. Victoria Jackson of Central Missouri finished second and Northwest Missouri’s Chloe Wichmann came in third.
 
In the men’s heptatlon Jayce Thomas of Missouri Southern set an MIAA Indoor record with 5,615 points to claim the championship. Pittsburg State’s Tanner McNutt was second and Central Missouri’s Blake Seitz finished third.
 
Things got going in the field on Saturday as Caniggia Raynor threw 66’ 11.50” to win the men’s weight throw. Deondra Canaday of Lindenwood was second and in third place was Northwest Missouri’s Caleb Mather. In the women’s weight throw Heavin Warner of Central Missouri bested her Indoor Meet record with a throw of 66’ 11.25” for the MIAA title. Cassie Casswell of Pittsburg State was second and Nebraska-Kearney’s Danyell Coons finished third.
 
Next up was the men’s triple jump with Lincoln’s Owen Smith jumping 49’ 9.75” to claim the MIAA title. Kennan Harrison of Missouri Southern finished second and Sedeeki Edie of Lincoln came in third. In the women’s event it was Diana Cauldwell of Lincoln jumping 42’ 2.00” to earn the MIAA championship. In second place was Pittsburg State’s Amira Jenkins while Jonelle Campbell of Lincoln came in third.
 
In the women’s high jump Natalie O’Keefe of Southwest Baptist cleared 5’ 8.50” to earn first place points for her team. Brittany Kallenberger of Central Missouri was second with Emilee Iverson from Pittsburg State placing third.
 
In the pole vault for the women Melanie Bower of Missouri Southern tied the MIAA Indoor Meet record with a 12’ 10.25” clearance to claim the title. Megan Wickersham of Pittsburg State was second and Missouri Southern’s Emily Presley was third.
 
As things got going on the track Missouri Southern’s Vincent Kipror set an indoor meet record with a time of 14:19.81 for the title. His teammate Eric Schott finished in second and Northwest Missouri’s Nolan Zimmer was third. In the women’s race Hannah DeVries of Pittsburg State finished in 17:16.52 to grab first place points for her team. Morgan Benesch of Nebraska-Kearney finished in second and Missouri Southern’s Cynthia Torres finished third.
 
In the final event on Saturday night Northwest Missouri set an MIAA indoor record pace of 10:01.17 to win the men’s distance medley relay. Nebraska-Kearney was second and Emporia State finished in third. In the women’s race Lincoln set the winning pace with a 12:07.41 finish. Pittsburg State came in second on their home track and Emporia State was third.
 
To open the field events on Sunday Garrett Appier set an MIAA indoor meet record throwing the shot put 63’ 9.5” to score 10 points for his squad. Jacob Mahin of Central Missouri was second with fellow Gorilla Bo Farrow finishing third. In the women’s event Cassie Caswell of Pittsburg state was just shy of a meet record throwing 52’ 0.50” to score 10 points. Jasmine Smith of Pittsburg State finished third while Heavin Warner of Central Missouri placed third.
 
In the men’s long jump Louis Rollins of PSU jumped 25’ 0” to win the event. Sedeekie Edie of Lincoln was second and his teammate Orneldo Thomas came in third. In the women’s event Kaylee Morgan of Missouri Southern used a jump of 19’ 9” to claim the top prize. Her teammate Brittani Reagan finished behind her with Lincoln’s Diana Cauldwell coming in third.
 
In the men’s high jump Lindenwood’s Akintunde Akinyemi cleared 6’ 9.75” to earn the MIAA title. Nebraska-Kearney’s Payton Nelson sored to second place with Judson Horton of Southwest Baptist placing third.
 
In the men’s pole vault Cole Phillips of Central Missouri cleared 17’ 3” to earn 10 points for his team. Missouri Southern’s Morgan Hold was second with Fort Hays State’s Jake Morrow finishing third.
 
As things got going on the track for the final day Cole Wellnitz of Nebraska-Kearney set a 4:10.80 pace to win the men’s mile run. Eric Schott of Missouri Southern claimed second with Ryan Cox of Northwest Missouri coming in third. In the women’s race Emily Harris just missed the indoor record with a 4:54.44 pace to claim the title. Jana Palmowski of Central Missouri finished second and Lindenwood’s Lisa Feuerherdt was third.
 
In the men’s 60m hurdles Stallone Watson of Lincoln finished in 7.94 to win the title. Jayce Thomas of Missouri Southern was second and Luke Norris of Pittsburg State finished third. In the women’s race Ladonna Richards broke her own MIAA indoor record with a 8.21 pace to claim the championship. Her teammate Chrisdale McCarthy was second and Courtney Nelson of Pittsburg State finished third.
 
In the men’s 60m dash it was an All-Lincoln podium as Roberto Smith turned in a 6.81 to place first. His teammates Stephen Rose and Jakiel David came in behind him for second and third place. In the women’s race Lincoln also swept with Yanique Ellington turning in a 7.52 to earn 10 points. Kimberly Bailey was second with Adewumi Ademuwagun finishing third.
 
In the men’s 400m dash Faedeon Royes of Lincoln set a new meet record with a time of 47.37 to take the victory. Taysean Goodwin of Emporia State was second while fellow Blue Tiger Miguel Barton came in third. In the women’s race Venicha Baker of Lincoln won the race with a 54.13 pace. Mary Bergman of Southwest Baptist was second while LU’s Kissi-Ann Brown finished in third.
 
Next came the men’s 600 yard run where Luke Stenzel of Emporia State finished first with a 1:10.43 time. Jacob Randle of Central Missouri was second with Lincoln’s Jeromia Riley coming in third. In the women’s race Chloe Wichmann turned in a near record pace of 1:22.77 to stand a top the medal stand. Emily Thole of Central Missouri was second while Emilyn Dearman of Pittsburg State place third.
 
In the men’s 800m run Thomas LaRoche of Emporia State used a 1:52.78 to finish first. Cody Wirth of Nebraska-Kearney finished second while Kevon Robinson of Lincoln came in third. In the women’s race Jhevere Hall set an MIAA record pace of 2:09.67 to win the event. Kailey Fuchs of Central Missouri was second and Monique Thompson of Lincoln place third.
 
IN the men’s 200m dash Mieguel Barton of Lincoln led a trio of Blue Tigers runners finishing in 21.57 for first place. Roger Blake was second with Stallone Watson finishing in third place. On the women’s side it was Venicha Baker of Lincoln leading a trio of Blue Tigers with a meet record 23.88 pace. Yanique Ellington finishing in second place while Kimberly Bailey was third.
 
In the 3,000m Vincent Kiprop of Missouri Southern bested the indoor meet record with a time of 8:18.20 to claim his second MIAA title. His teammate Eric Schott came in second while Wick Cunningham of Northwest Missouri placed third. In the women’s race Missouri Southern’s Emily Harris earned the 10 points setting a 9:59.53 pace. Pittsburg State’s Hannah DeVries came in second with Cyrhia Torres of Missouri Southern finishing third.
 
In the 4x400m relay for the men, Emporia State breezed to a meet record with a time of 3:13.71 almost three seconds faster than the record set in 1984. Lincoln finished second while Pittsburg State came in third as the first four teams bested the previous meet record. The women of Lincoln bested the meet record by nearly four seconds as well turning in a 3:42.18 for first place. Central Missouri earned a second place finish and Southwest Baptist came in third.
