KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its seventh MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week, presented by Shift Group, for the 2022-23 season.
 
MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Brooke Littrell – Central Missouri       
Brooke Littrell is receiving back-to-back honors as the MIAA Athlete of the Week. The Jennies redshirt sophomore averaged double-double figures over the holiday break with 16.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, helping No. 11-ranked Central Missouri go 3-0 and move its winning streak to 11 games. In UCM’s thrilling 63-62 win over Fort Hays State, Littrell tallied 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting and pulled down 12 rebounds before netting 13 points and snagging 13 boards in the Jennies 55-50 triumph over Nebraska Kearney. Littrell also added 16 points with 10 rebounds, two assists and three blocks in Central Missouri’s 97-52 non-conference victory over William Jewell. She also went a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line against William Jewell. Lettrell has six double-doubles on the season, including five straight. The Jennies are now just one of five teams in Division II women’s basketball to remain undefeated.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Brionna Budgetts – Missouri Western   
Brionna Budgetts balled out in all three Griffon wins last week, leading the team in scoring twice while also tying a MWSU single-game record. The junior guard started off with a game-high 26 points in a win over Saint Mary, sinking a program-record seven three-pointers enroute to a 94-65 victory. Budgetts followed that up with a game-high 21 points and a season-high six assists in the Griffons 94-51 win over Rogers State. Budgetts finish the week with 15 more points in a 74-53 victory against Northeastern State before sitting for most of the second half.
 
Tre’Zure Jobe – Emporia State  
Tre’Zure Jobe averaged 21.3 points and 4.3 steals per game as she ran her streak of 20-plus point games to five last week. The Griffons junior guard had 24 points and four steals in a 98-58 win over Bethel to wrap up non-conference play. She then scored 20 points with four steals, four rebounds and three assists in the Hornets 52-49 loss at Newman. Jobe finished the week with 20 points with five steals, five assists and four rebounds in ESU’s 66-57 loss at Central Oklahoma. Jobe has moved into sixth on the Lady Hornet career three-pointers made list with 177.
 
Karenna Gerber – Pittsburg State     
Karenna Gerber averaged 16.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocked shots per game in a pair of wins for the Gorillas over the Holiday break. The Halstead, Kan., native posted a team-leading 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots as the Gorillas scored an 87-79 road win over No. 9-ranked Missouri Southern at Joplin, Mo. She also posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in just 22 minutes of action in the Gorillas 84-69 non-conference victory over Tabor College. For the week, Gerber shot 61.9 percent from the field, making 13-of-21 attempts overall.
 
Lauryn Dubbert – Newman    
Lauryn Dubbert, a sophomore from Beloit, Kansas, was the leading three-point scorer on the court in the 52-49 win over then 9-2, 4-1 Emporia State. Dubbert’s play kept the Jets in the game after being down by 17 points in the first half. Her three-point shot with 25 seconds left with no time on the shot clock gave Newman the three point lead, ultimately giving the Jets the victory on New Year’s Eve and giving Dubbert her 14th point of the game.
