KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its sixth MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week, presented by
Shift Group, for the 2022-23 season.
MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Brooke Littrell – Central Missouri
Brooke Littrell averaged a double-double on the week with an impressive 27.5 points and 17 rebounds per game to help No. 17 Central Missouri to wins at No. 3 Missouri Southern and at Pittsburg State. In both contests, Littrell recorded double doubles by halftime of each game. In the Jennies 73-71 victory that handed the No. 3 Lions their first loss of the season, Littrell scored 24 points and pulled down 16 rebounds and compiled three blocks. In the 82-57 triumph over the Gorillas, the redshirt sophomore tallied 31 points and tied her career-best with 18 boards while shooting 61 percent from the field (11-of-18). Littrell currently leads the league with 20.5 points per game.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Klaire Kirsch – Nebraska Kearney
Klaire Kirsch averaged a double double on the weekend with 15.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. The redshirt senior also became the first UNK women’s player and the third Loper overall to reach 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. She reached 1,000 in boards Dec. 8 at Missouri Western, then reached 1,000 points in the Lopers 59-35 win over Newman last week. She now has 1,021 points and 1,036 rebounds.
Olivia Hollenbeck – Fort Hays State
Olivia Hollenbeck averaged 15.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game in a trio of home wins over the weekend. The sophomore forward led the Tigers with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 57-48 victory over Central Oklahoma before adding 12 points in an 83-51 win against Newman and 15 in the Tigers 80-46 triumph against Bethany. Hollenbeck blocked at least two shots in each contest, including four against the Swedes. The Lincoln, Neb. native knocked down 67.7 percent from the floor on the week, finishing 21-of-31.
Tre’Zure Jobe – Emporia State
Tre’Zure Jobe averaged 27.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals last week as she became just the seventh Lady Hornet to score over 1,700 career points. She scored a game high 23 points with five steals as the Lady Hornets remained undefeated in MIAA play with a 64-56 victory over Northwest Missouri. She came back with a season high 31 points with six rebounds in Emporia States 82-74 loss to Missouri Western.
