KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced a new Women’s Golfer of the Week for the 2026 fall season. Ten MIAA women’s golf programs were in Andover, Kansas, earlier this week for Newman’s Fall Invite, hosted at the Terradyne Country Club. Northwest Missouri’s Lauren Briggs and Washburn’s Susana Grandos Carrion were the league’s top finishers in the event to earn Co-Golfer of the Week honors.

CO-GOLFER OF THE WEEK:  Lauren Briggs, Northwest Missouri
Lauren Briggs continued her torrid play with the golf clubs as she fired a 1-under round of 70 to tie for third place at the Newman Fall Women’s Invite. Briggs led the Bearcats with a 36-hole total of 141 (-1), which is the second-best individual 36-hole scoring mark in Northwest’s program history. Her final round of 70 (-1) also tied for the seventh-best single-round total in the Bearcat record book. Briggs knocked in four birdies in Tuesday's final round on holes No. 3, No. 6, No. 14 and No. 16. Her eight birdies tied for the second-most birdies in the 85-player field. Briggs, a junior from Burlington, Iowa, has now placed in the top four at each of the three events Northwest has competed in this fall. In total, she’s produced nine career top-10 finishes and six top-five finishes as a Bearcat.

CO-GOLFER OF THE WEEK:  Susana Granados Carrion, Washburn
Susana Granados Carrion has been crowned the league’s Co-Golfer of the Week for the second straight week after once again tying for an MIAA-best finish. The senior from Cordoba, Spain, tied for third place in the Newman Fall Invite with a two-round scorecard of 141 (-1). After carding an even 71 on day one, Granados Carrion finished round two with nine pars and five birdies for a score of 70 (-1). She’s now placed within the top three at each event to begin the 2026-27 season, bringing her career top-five finishes to 10 total.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Maryn Harlow, Missouri Southern
Maryn Harlow led the Lions with a fifth-place finish at the Newman Fall Invite earlier this week. The senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, shot back-to-back rounds of even par (71) to finish the event with a 36-hole total of 142. Maryn totaled 24 pars, five birdies, and was one of six golfers to have an eagle. She also tied for the course lead on par 5s, averaging 3-under.
