KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2025 MIAA Basketball Championships presented by Southern Bank tip-off Wednesday, March 5, in Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium. The top twenty MIAA basketball teams will meet in Kansas City for the Association's 22nd postseason tournament in the historic Municipal Auditorium.
The official men’s and women’s 10-team championship brackets will be announced on Saturday, March 1, following the conclusion of the league’s final regular season matchups. This year, men’s teams will compete in the afternoon sessions, with the women's sessions following in the evenings.
Aside from hosting some of the toughest conference matchups in NCAA Division II men’s and women’s basketball, MIAA Madness has something to offer basketball fans of all ages. Read the information below to discover MIAA events and promotions happening throughout the 2025 championships.
Johnny’s Tavern in Kansas City’s Power & Light District is once again inviting MIAA fans to tip-off the week’s celebrations with a MIAA Pep Rally, presented by 96.5 The Fan. Following the men’s afternoon session and before the women’s evening session on March 5, MIAA fans are encouraged to visit downtown Kansas City’s best sports bar. MIAA fans can show their ticket(s) for either session on March 5 to receive a FREE beer and can also enter to win a number of raffle prizes. Each year, the MIAA welcomes thousands of local students and youth groups to its annual MIAA Madness Youth Days. Prior to tip-off of the 12:00 PM men’s games Wednesday-Friday, participants will be able to experience an educational pregame program before filling the arena for the afternoon session. The Kansas City Disc Dogs will once again make an appearance during MIAA Madness at halftime of Wednesday’s 12:00 PM first-round men’s matchup and Thursday’s and Friday’s first men’s quarterfinal contests. The
Kansas City Disc Dogs are a group of local dogs and their owners who love playing frisbee. No strangers to the bright lights, the KC Disc Dogs have performed in arenas all over the Kansas City metro and throughout the Midwest.
Semifinal Saturday will be Southern Bank Day.
Southern Bank is the official sponsor of the 2025 MIAA Basketball Championships. A limited amount of mini, championship-branded gold basketballs will be given away to MIAA fans in attendance following the last contest of the afternoon session. Then, during halftime of the first women’s semifinal game, Southern Bank will be giving away a $500 Amazon gift card to the winning contestant of the Southern Bank “Bank Shot” promotion. MIAA fans in attendance will have chances to win gift cards, tickets, and experiences courtesy of Southern Bank, Visit KC, Johnny’s Tavern and many more local businesses and attractions, as well as plenty of other prizes and giveaways for participating in on-court promotions and contests throughout the tournament.
Each year, the Association collects donations for a specific charity. For the second consecutive year, the beneficiary will be the
Heartstrings Community Foundation – a Kansas City organization that assists adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, productive, independent lives through successful employment opportunities in the Kansas City community.
In between sessions, staff members will walk the stands with roster sheets and donation buckets with all proceeds going to the Heartstrings Community Foundation. Heartstring employees will also be open for business at Municipal Auditorium, selling a variety of tasty treats and snacks. MIAA fans can visit the Heartstrings booth in the lobby before and after the noon game on Friday (March 7).
An MIAA fan-favorite
Granny Basketball is returning in 2025. Two local Granny Basketball teams will go head-to-head on Municipal Court at halftime of the first women’s quarterfinal game on Friday (March 7).
Representatives from the Kansas City Royals will also have a booth in the Municipal lobby over the weekend to promote the Royals’ MIAA Night at the K, scheduled for April 26.
