KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced new volleyball athletes of the week from week eight of the 2025 season. Central Oklahoma’s Mikiah Perdue and Lindsey Houran were named the Offensive Athlete of the Week and Setter of the Week, while Pittsburg State’s Anna Dean was selected as the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mikiah Perdue, Central Oklahoma
Mikiah Perdue led No. 7 Central Oklahoma to a pair of wins over Arkansas-Fort Smith last week, sweeping the Lions on Wednesday (Oct. 22) in Arkansas before a second sweep on Saturday (Oct. 25) in Edmond. The senior middle blocker had a team-high 23 kills in the two matches, averaging 3.83 kills per set with a .392 hitting percentage. Perdue totalled 13 kills on the road and 12 more on at home with only one error. She hit just three errors in 51 swings this week. Perdue also added four blocks on the week, including two solo.
DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Anna Dean, Pittsburg State
Anna Dean helped lead the Gorillas to a 2-0 week with a four-set win over Rockhurst and a sweep against Newman on the road. The senior middle blocker averaged 2.00 blocks and 3.00 kills for 4.21 points per set while hitting .442, with 21 kills on 43 attempts. Dean registered a kill/block double-double against Rockhurst with 11 kills with a .417 hitting percentage. She also totaled 10 blocks in the match, becoming the first Gorilla since 2003 to have three matches with 10 or more blocks. Dean ended the week 10 kill on .474 hitting and four blocks against the Jets. She currently leads the MIAA and ranks seventh in Division II for blocks per set (1.45 per set) on the season and is eighth in total blocks (110). As a team, the Gorillas currently lead Division II with 2.92 blocks per set and rank second for total blocks with 231.
SETTER OF THE WEEK: Lindsey Houran, Central Oklahoma
Lindsey Houran helped the No. 7-ranked Bronchos to a pair of MIAA sweeps over Arkansas-Fort Smith this week. Houran dished out 79 total assists for an average of 13.1 per set, helping the Bronchos’ offense to an average of 15.0 kills per set on the week. The senior recorded 36 assists in Wednesday’s road match (Oct. 22) before dishing out 43 assists in Edmond on Saturday (Oct. 25). Houran added 28 digs (4.67 per set) and two aces on 21 serves to along with six kills, averaging 1.0 kills per set on 15 attacks this week. This is Houran's third MIAA Setter of the Week honor this season, also earning the title in week one and three.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Noelle Sutcliffe, Missouri Western
Noelle Sutcliffe fueled the Griffon offense with 14 kills on 29 swings, hitting .483 in the three-set sweep at Northwest Missouri. The sophomore outside hitter added four digs and one reception, finishing with 14.0 total points while helping guide MoWest to its seventh straight win.
Keilah Rivers, Washburn
In the only match of the week for No. 2 Washburn, Keilah Rivers led the offensive attack in the Ichabods’ 3-0 sweep of No. 25 Emporia State. The sophomore outside hitter totaled 10 kills (3.34 per set) while hitting .421 in the match. She also added a block, an ace and six digs in the sweep, which gave the Ichabods an eighth consecutive straight set win.
Kaitlyn Parrott, Central Oklahoma
Kaitlyn Parrott helped No. 7 Central Oklahoma to a pair of wins over Arkansas-Fort Smith last week, sweeping the Lions in Arkansas before a second sweep of the Lions in Edmond. Parrott dug a total of 31 attacks, averaging 5.17 digs per set. The nation's leader in digs per set, Parrott had 16 on Wednesday's road game and 15 at home on Saturday.
