Week Four MIAA Volleyball Athletes of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced new volleyball athletes of the week from the fourth week of the 2025 season. Nebraska Kearney's Peyton Neff was named the Setter of the Week, and Emporia State's Camilla Ossola and Mia Frisbie were named the Offensive Athlete of the Week and the Defensive Athlete of the Week. 
 

OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Camilla Ossola, Emporia State
Camilla Ossola hit .389 and averaged 3.92 points per set as Emporia State opened MIAA play with a pair of wins. In Emporia State's 3-0 win over then #24 Missouri Western, she recorded 13 kills on .733 hitting as the Hornets picked up their first win over a ranked team since 2019. Ossola had two kills during a 7-0 run in the third set that turned a 9-5 deficit into a 12-9 lead, and ESU would not trail the rest of the match. The Hornets came back with a 3-0 win over Northwest Missouri on Saturday night, and Ossola added six kills and seven block assists in Emporia State's 11th straight win. It is the longest winning streak for Emporia State since they opened the 2009 season with 13 straight wins.

DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mia Frisbie, Emporia State     
Mia Frisbie averaged 2.17 blocks per set to help lead Emporia State to a pair of wins over the weekend. In the Hornets 3-0 win over then #24 Missouri Western, she had five block assists and three kills. Against Northwest Missouri, she helped ESU dominate at the net, recording eight block assists while hitting .571 with four kills on seven attempts. 

SETTER OF THE WEEK: Peyton Neff, Nebraska Kearney       
Peyton Neff helped #4 UNK move to 15-0 by averaging 11.6 assists, 2.4 digs, 0.6 blocks and 0.3 kills per set while serving up three aces on the weekend. Neff directed a Loper offense that hit .230 on the weekend and came in at 13.6 kps to help claim 3-1 victories over Central Missouri and Missouri Southern to open MIAA play.


OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Sydney Huck, Central Oklahoma
Sydney Huck led No. 2 Central Oklahoma to a 2-0 start in MIAA play with road sweeps at Newman and Pittsburg State this weekend. The senior from McKinney, Texas, put down 27 kills. She averaged 4.50 kills per set this week and did it with a blistering .407 hitting percentage. Huck had just three errors on 59 attacks in six sets played this weekend. Huck landed 11 kills with one error on 21 attacks at Newman, hitting .476 in the match. She landed a season-high 16 kills with just two errors on 38 attacks (.368) in the win at Pitt State. Huck also had two blocks and 14 digs in the Saturday win in Pittsburg.

Ellie Spang, Nebraska Kearney
Ellie Spang averaged 4.5 digs per set and posted a .956 (43-45) serve receive percentage to help #4 UNK win two more matches and move to 15-0 on the season.

Lindsey Houran, Central Oklahoma
Lindsey Houran led No. 2 Central Oklahoma to a 2-0 start in MIAA play with road sweeps at Newman and Pittsburg State this weekend. The senior from Colleyville, Texas, dished out 75 assists, 12.5 per set, to lead the attack. Houran had 38 assists in the three-set win at Newman and 37 assists in the three-set win at Pitt State. Houran also dug up 20 attacks, including 14 at PSU, and had three blocks at Newman.

Brailee Bogle, Emporia State
In Emporia State's two setter system, Brailee Bogle averaged 5.33 assists per set and 1.50 digs per set as the Hornets went 2-0 last weekend. She had 18 assists in ESU's 3-0 win over Missouri Western. She then had 14 assists in the 3-0 sweep of Northwest Missouri.
