KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced new women’s soccer athletes of the week from week six of the 2025 season. OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jane Lockhart, Central Oklahoma
Jane Lockhart led Central Oklahoma’s offense over the week with a pair of goals to help the Bronchos collect MIAA road wins over Fort Hays State (2-0) and Nebraska Kearney (3-0). The freshman midfielder scored both of her goals in the Bronchos’ win over the Lopers last Sunday (Oct. 12). Her first goal came from inside the box, moving in from the corner. Her second she scored directly off a free kick from 25 yards out. She took four total shots on the week with three landing on target.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Mackenzie Smith, Central Missouri
Mackenzie Smith helped the No. 9-ranked Jennies to a 2-0 week with wins over No. 24 Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western. Smith and the Jennies defense held opponents to nine shots on goal with just one goal allowed. Smith, a sophomore defender, netted UCM's first goal in the 2-1 victory over the ranked Bearcats last Friday (Oct. 10), scoring in the 10th minute off a corner kick for her first goal of the season. She played a total of 177 minutes on the weekend.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK: Mackenzi Goen, Emporia State
Mackenzi Goen recorded her second and third shutouts of the season, which puts her at 12 in her Hornet career. The first of the week came on the road against Pittsburg State, where the Hornets played the final 17 minutes down one player and the final eight minutes down two. Goen faced 14 shots and made six saves to help the Hornets earn a point. She then notched four saves on the way to her second shutout of the week against Missouri Southern in the 1-0 win.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Offensive – Patsy O’Brien, Central Missouri
Patsy O’Brien helped the No. 9-ranked Jennies to a 2-0-0 week with wins over No. 24 Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western. The sophomore forward scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in Central Missouri’s 1-0 shutout win against the Griffons, scoring less than two minutes into the match off an assist from Coryn Jespersen. It was O’Brien’s third goal of the season.
Offensive – Taylor Hill, Fort Hays State

Kaitlyn Cotton led the Bronchos to a pair of MIAA shutout wins on the road. The defender had one assist in Sunday's win at Kearney, sending in a free kick from midfield that was headed in for a goal … Opponents took 18 total shots and only put six on goal on the week, including just one shot on goal Friday at Hays.
Defender – Ruby Ryan, Emporia State
Ruby Ryan helped anchor the Hornet defense to a pair of shutouts last week, pushing the Emporia State’s unbeaten streak to six matches overall, which includes the first five matches of MIAA play. In a 0-0 tie against the Gorillas, the Hornets had two players suffer second yellow cards, and the Hornets, anchored by Ryan, kept Pittsburg State off the board over the last 17 minutes down one player, and the final eight down two players. In the 1-0 win over the Lions, Ryan assisted the lone goal that proved to be the difference in the 1-0 win.
Goalkeeper – Avery Bass, Central Oklahoma
Avery Bass led the Bronchos to a pair of MIAA road wins with two more shutouts. The senior goalkeeper made one save in the win at Fort Hays State, with her defense limiting the team to only one shot on goal.
