KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its Baseball Athletes of the Week for ninth week of competition in the 2023 season.
 
MIAA Hitter of the Week – Treghan Parker – Missouri Southern      
In four games last week, Treghan Parker hit .429 with six home runs, 15 RBI and scored 11 runs while slugging 1.286 with a .520 on-base percentage for a 1.806 OPS. In game one of the Lions series against Fort Hays State, Parker hit three home runs to tie the program record for single-game homers. In game two, he smashed another home run while recording a game-high seven RBI to become the 11th player in program history to have a game with seven or more RBI. In a non-conference contest with SWOSU, Parker turned two home runs and two walks into five RBI while scoring all four times he was on base. For the week, he hit a home run in three straight games and had at least three or more RBI in each of those games. The sophomore from Webb City, Mo., now has 26 hits with 19 being extra base hits (10 homers, seven doubles and two triples) with 38 RBI. He’s also nearing 25 career homers and 100 career RBI in only 86 games.
 
MIAA Pitcher of the Week – Nate Wohlgemuth – Rogers State      
Nate Wohlgemuth led the Hillcats to a thrilling 10-6 win in 11 innings over the Hornets last Friday in Emporia. The sophomore came out of the bullpen and threw 5.1 shutout innings, only allowing two hits with a season-high 11 strikeouts and two walks.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Hitters
Jake Angelico – Newman
Jake Angelico had a dominant week, helping the Jets to a 3-1 record with a midweek win over Fort Hays State and a series win over Northwest Missouri. On the week, Angelico was 10-for-16 with three home runs, three doubles, and a triple. Angelico hit two home runs in the series opening win against the Bearcats and hit his third home run of the series in game three. Angelico finished the rubber match with the Bearcats by hitting a walk off triple to earn his first ever cycle and walk off run-rule win.
 
Cole Moore – Central Missouri
Cole Moore helped No. 24-ranked Central Missouri to a 3-1 week, including a 2-1 series win over Washburn. The redshirt junior hit .529 with nine hits, eight runs, three doubles, two homers, 12 RBI, three walks, two stolen bases, a 1.059 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage in four games. In the Mules 21-10 win over Washburn in the MIAA series opener, Moore went 3-for-4 with three runs, six RBI, a double and a home run. He also recorded three hits with a double, a home run and three runs batted in against the Ichoabods in game two of the series.
 
Isaiah Ural – Fort Hays State
Isaiah Ural let the Tigers offense against MIAA opponents last week hitting .556 with 10 hits in 18 at bats. His best effort was a 4-for-5 performance in the 7-4 win against Missouri Southern. Ural had three multi-hit games for the week, also going 3-for-4 at Newman and 2-for-5 in the second game of the series with Missouri Southern. He had a hit in all four games for the week.
 
Pitchers
Cade Flaherty – Fort hays State
Cade Flaherty threw a complete game against Missouri Southern in a 7-4 win for the Tigers. The sophomore had a career-high nine strikeouts over the nine-inning performance, throwing 123 pitches. He scattered nine hits and walked two. He also had seven strikeouts in just 4.1 innings of relief work in a 14-4 loss at Newman. On the week, Flaherty had 16 strikeouts over 13.1 innings of work.
