[2022-23 MIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week: Week 1, Week 2]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its third women's indoor track and field athletes of the week for the 2022-23 season.
 
Indoor Track Athlete of the Week – Kiara Smith – Missouri Southern    
Kiara Smith set a program record in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 8.31 seconds to claim a tie for the event win and is the second fastest time in NCAA Division II this season. Smith was not done claiming NCAA Qualifying times with a 24.84 time in the 200-meter dash as well at the Wendy’s/Pittsburg State Invitational.
 
Indoor Field Athlete of the Week – Auna Childress – Pittsburg State  
Auna Childress has been named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. The junior jumper posted the second-best mark in NCAA Division II this season in winning the triple jump discipline at the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational at the Robert W. Plaster Center. The Lawrence, Kan., native posted a best mark of 42 feet, 2 inches to surpass her previous school record mark in the event.
 
NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES
Katie Byrd – Rogers State
Katie Byrd won the women’s mile with an NCAA Division II provisional mark and new school record time of 4:57.10 at the Wendy’s/Pittsburg State Invitational over the weekend. The time breaks her own record of 5:00.66 that she set last season and is the second fastest time in MIAA this season.
 
Sky Hagan – Pittsburg State
Sky Hagan posted the second-fastest time in NCAA Division II in the 60-meter hurdles this season at the Wendy’s/Pittsburg State Invitational. The Houston, Texas, native was clocked in 8.31 seconds for the second fastest time in school history.
 
NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES
Rachael Molloy – Central Missouri
Rachael Molloy won the weight throw at the UCM Indoor Mule Relays over the weekend after launching a personal-best throw of 18.94 meters (62-01.75). The throw is now second-best in program history and ninth-best in Division II this season.
