KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA announced its 2018-19 Women’s Tennis All-MIAA Teams and Postseason Awards. Central Oklahoma’s Adel-Byanu Abidullina was the named Freshman of the Year and Co-Player of the Year. Washburn’s Alexis Czapinski was tabbed as the Co-Player of the Year and WU’s Lance Lysaught was voted Coach of the Year by his fellow coaches.
Abidullina took the court in the top-spot for Central Oklahoma this season. She's the third-ranked singles player in the nation and went 14-3 this spring. Abidullina went a perfect 7-0 in MIAA duals. She's won seven in a row overall and also has a 16-2 doubles record, including a 9-0 mark in the league.
Czapinski played No. 2 singles throughout the season and was 20-2 on the season, including 8-1 in conference matches. She teamed up with her doubles partner to go undefeated in conference matches and 19-4 during the season. In the nation, Czapinski is currently ranked first in doubles and second in singles play.
Lysaught led the Ichabods to an undefeated conference record and the 2018-19 MIAA regular season championship. Washburn is currently ranked No. 7 and have three student-athletes ranked in the top-50 of the individual ITA rankings. He has guided the team to a 21-2 record, the only other time that happened in program history was 2000-01.
