St. Cloud, Minn. – Sixth seeded Emporia State allowed 20 hits as they fell 18-7 to Arkansas-Monticello and were eliminated from the NCAA Division II Central Regional.
 
Arkansas-Monticello struck first as a singled drove home a run in the top of the first inning. Emporia State would answer as Tucker Perkins had a RBI sacrifice fly and Daniel LaMunyon added an RBI single down the left field line.
 
UAM tied it up and took the lead with two solo home runs in the top of the third inning. ESU would answer and tie things up as in the bottom of the third Wade Hanna singled to drive home Jonny Hodges.
 
The Boll Weevils would add three in the top of the fourth on three singles and would push the lead to 8-3 with two more in the top of the fifth. ESU would cut the lead to just two as Aaron Gile hit a bases loaded triple scoring Hanna, Derek Francis and LaMunyon. The Hornets would then cut that lead to just one as Perkins reached on a fielders choice driving home Dalton Wheat.
 
UAM answered in the top of the seventh with a  solo and three-run home runs making it a 12-7 advantage. The then pushed the lead to 11 runs as they plated six in the top of the ninth inning.
 
For the Hornets Hodges finished three for five with two runs scored as Aaron Gile drove in three runs and Tuckers Perkins drove in two. Daniel LaMunyon and Derek Francis each went two for four in the game and Dalton Wheat scored twice.
 
Emporia State finishes the season with a 39-19 record overall and were second in the MIAA regular season.
