AUSTIN, Texas – Forty-six MIAA student-athletes were named NCAA Division II Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) in the 2025-26 academic year.
 
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, the CSC Academic All-America® is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions. Hundreds of NCAA Division II student-athletes were named to 2025-26 CSC Academic All-America® teams for their efforts in their sport and in the classroom. The MIAA had 24 men and 22 women achieve Academic All-America® status in their respective sport in the 2025-26 academic year.

Highlighting the league’s CSC Academic All-America® honorees were three MIAA student-athletes who were named CSC Academic All-America Team Members of the Year. Each year, only a total of 66 student-athletes across all levels and divisions of college athletics are selected as Academic All-America Team Members of the Year.

• Dagen Brewer of Pittsburg State University was named the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for the 2026 NCAA Division II baseball season. The senior outfielder from Topeka, Kansas, Brewer held a 3.57 GPA as a construction major while recording one of the best single-season performances in NCAA Division II baseball history. Brewer was also named the National Player of the Year by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and the NCBWA, and was a consensus First Team All-American (ABCA, D2CCA & NCBWA) in the outfield after his historic season.
• Crew Howard of the University of Nebraska Kearney was named the CSC Academic All-America Team Member for the 2025-26 CSC NCAA Division II At-Large Academic All-America Team. A three-time All-American and the 2026 national runner-up at heavyweight, Howard capped his final season with a 26-3 record. A 4.0 student-athlete, the Clarinda, Iowa native was also honored as this year’s NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award recipient and helped the Lopers to their second-straight Division II national championship and third in the last five seasons. Howard is also a two-time finalist for the MIAA Male Student-Athlete of the Year Award.
• Rylee Lemos of the University of Central Oklahoma was named the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for the 2026 NCAA Division II softball season. Lemos, a 4.0 student-athlete, recently graduated from UCO with her bachelor's degree in human resource management. The South Coffeyville, Oklahoma native was also named the MIAA Player of the Year, MIAA Defensive Player of the Year, the D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year, and the MIAA Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Of the 46 MIAA student-athletes honored as CSC Academic All-Americans in the 2025-26 academic year, 19 of them were named First Team Academic All-Americans, 16 were named Second Team Academic All-Americans, and 11 were named Third Team Academic All-Americans. Eighteen of the MIAA student-athletes honored compete in track and field and/or cross country (11 women, 7 men). There were also 10 MIAA football players, six softball players, and three volleyball players named Academic All-Americans. The league also received two Academic All-America® team members in the sports of baseball, men’s basketball and women’s soccer, and had only one Academic All-America® honoree in the sports of men’s golf, men’s tennis and wrestling.

The 2025-26 NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Teams were voted on by CSC members affiliated with a Division II school or conference. Student-athletes who maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA or higher and satisfy other CSC criteria are eligible to be nominated by a member of the CSC.
