St. Cloud, Minn. – Second seeded Central Missouri allowed just three hits to eighth seeded Minnesota State in a 3-0 win earning them a spot in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship Game.
Central Missouri got on the board in the bottom of the third inning as Dylan Farrell singled to drive home Jackson Schnurbusch. Two batters later Jake Alexander singled to right field driving Farrell home.
In the bottom of the sixth Bennett Oliver set a new MIAA single season home run record with his 24
th of the year over the right field fence making it a 3-0 lead.
For the Mules Matt Elliott went two for three and Cole Distler was three for four on the evening. On the mound Carlos D'Armas pitched 6.1 innings allowing just three hits and striking out four. Grant Gavin came on to pitch the final inning striking out three to pick up the save.
Central Missouri will await the last team standing after tomorrow’s two games in the NCAA Division II Regional Championship at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23 from Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn.
