St. Cloud, Minn. – Second seeded Central Missouri got just two hits, but took advantage of three errors by seventh seeded Southwest Oklahoma State in a 3-1 victory to open the NCAA Division II Central Regional.
Central Missouri struck first in the game taking advantage of two SWOSU errors as Matt Elliott and Dylan Farrell scored and Derek Cornell picked up an RBI. The Mules would strike again in the fifth inning as Matt Elliott grounded out to first to drive in Blake Wilfong and make it a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs grabbed a run in the top of the ninth as Jacob Spring singled to drive in Tanner Dearman.
Bennett Oliver and Jackson Schnurbusch had a hit for the Mules while Elliott and Cornell finished with one RBI each. On the mound Tyler House pitched seven strong innings scattering three hits and striking out six while Lucas Williams pitched the final two innings allowing two hits to pick up the save.
UCM will face the winner of third seeded Minnesota-Duluth and sixth seeded Emporia State at 8:30 p.m. on May 20 from Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn.
